Lose: 2 - 3
Huron was a little slow starting off tonight and found themselves down 1-0 early on.  Some bad decisions, timing, turnovers, and a few ailments pushed the Chiefs to see how resilient they could be.  After 40 minutes and still down 1-0, Senior Captain Shane Gill equalized to knot the game 1-1.  Divine Child had the High School Goal of the year when their left back, left unattended, struck a 40 yard rocket upper back corner pushing them back into the lead 2-1. The Chiefs continued to possess and with help from newcomer, Freshmen Roman Prit, were able to get some attacks that led to some opportunities.  With pushing so hard for the equalizer, the Chiefs had an untimely turnover that saw the opposition atttack 80 yards and slot the ball into the net for a 3-1 lead.  Huron scored right away with a Shane Gill direct free kick that found itself into the back of the net to pull the Chiefs back with in 1.  Down 3-2 with 10 minutes to play, the Chiefs pushed hard for the equalizer that never presented itself.

Win: 2 - 1
Brothers Anthony Gill and Shane Gill along with Ashton Messina, Hayden Stanczyk, Jack Maxwell and Brady Fleszar led the Chief’s defense to send the Chiefs to the finals.  These defensive players controlled, balanced, and shifted nearly perfectly for 80 minutes.  Luke Hamilton, Drew Slane, and Chandler McCraight connected with Andy Traster, Alex Davenport, and Tyler Toth to create some good looking Soccer in the offensive end. Nik Crispin, Evan Town, and Carson Downey were able to come into the high level game and lend much needed relief.   Nine minutes into the game Alex Davenport crossed the ball to Tyler Toth who ripped the netting to start off the scoring.  Five minutes later, the fearless Luke Hamilton created a scoring chance for the very aware Andy Traster  who snuck the ball into the back of the net.  Riverview scored later in the half but after a full 80 minutes, Huron was the team advancing. Boys Varsity Soccer Senior Night
3.0 years ago | Matt Lividini
Win: 8 - 0
First game of the Huron League Tournament had the Chiefs soaring past the Jets.  Senior Ashton Messina scored what some are calling a two State-record breaker, both fastest and longest.   At  39:57 just 3 seconds in Messina was celebrating a 60 yard strike that was being picked out of the opponents net.  Scoring continued in order, Alex Davenport  to Andy Traster, Davenport to Tyler Toth, Toth to Owen Barnes, Davenport to Barnes, Shane Gill to Davenport, Evan Town to Barnes, and Nik Crispin to Luke Hamilton.  The real big story of the night was the SENIORS.  Owen Barnes, Alex Davenport,  Shane Gill, Ashton Messina, Chandler McCraight and Hayden Stanczyk! All six seniors that were honored tonight have been multiple year varsity  players and are the true backbone to this tribe.  “As a coach, I thank each one of you for allowing me to be your high school coach and for putting up with me for your entire high school soccer careers, I know it’s not easy, but I truly appreciate each of you!” Coach Matt Huron Advances to play Riverview on October 6th at Riverview

Win: 11 - 0
Flat Rock and Huron moved their game back over to Arrowhead in New Boston to squeak out a later game under the lights.  Huron started off fast and never looked back.  Andrew Traster scored first from Owen Barnes followed by Alex Davenport scoring from Tyler Toth. Traster struck again this time from Shane Gill just before Toth scored from Barnes.  Barnes scored the next two from Shane and Toth leading into Davenport adding his 2nd of the night from an Evan Town assist.  Sophomore Sebastian Horvath picked up some points when he scored his first ever Varsity goal from Anthony Gill.  Anthony was playing the field tonight while Ethan Woolery secured the net. Evan Town scored his first and second varsity goals, one unassisted and the other on loan from Hayden Stanczyk.  Stanczyk struck one more ball down the field for another assist but this time the recipient will surprise you? WHO you ask????? None other than........... the............6’4”.........newcomer......never played soccer before.......First ever Varsity goalscorer........ Ethan Woolery.   The Huron Chiefs would like to thank the Rams for their competitiveness and praise them for their team unity and  great sportsmanship!  Good luck Flat Rock!
Chief’s Soccer Travels To Birmingham Seaholm High School

Lose: 0 - 1
Division 1 Seaholm welcomed the Chiefs to a bone chilling water fest that included not only water logged players but a floating magical turf.  After several push backs and delays, the turf slowly drained down the standing water that was slowing both teams and a serious soccer game engulfed the spectators.  Andy Traster hit the post, Alex Davenport had a near miss, and Chandler McCraight almost snuck one in the lower left corner.  Huron had some great chances and with the strength of their back, Ashton Messina and Shane Gill, they were able to press hard and keep opportunities coming.  Anthony Gill and Hayden Stanczyk gave huge efforts that aided in the game remaining 0-0 until the final moments when Seaholm netted one.  Huron never called it quits and despite many starters suffering ailments on the bench, continued pressing until the final whistle that saw them on the back side of a 1-0 loss.

Win: 1 - 0
Huron attacked hard and fast creating goal scoring opportunities every couple of minutes.  Out running and out working the visitors was order number one on tonight’s menu and the Chiefs served up a hearty portion of that.  SMCC did a wonderful job keeping the Chiefs scoreless while the tribe was full speed buzzing around.  After many saves by the SMCC goalie and balls inside the six not being converted into goals, the game was notted   0-0 at half.  Finally Owen Barnes scored from Tyler Toth to put the home team ahead and set them on the course for the big home win.  Now 4-2 in League play and 5-5 overall the mighty Chiefs are back in action tomorrow night at Division 1 Birmingham Seaholm.
Chiefs Soccer vs. Lenawee Christian School

Win: 3 - 0
Right back in action,  the Chiefs came out firing on all cylinders to combat the defending DIV 4 State Champs. Alex Davenport scored from a Tyler Toth assist to set the tone of the evening.  With 18 eligible players the Chiefs were well prepared to keep a fast and furious pace and did so with the help of two newcomers.  Freshmen Roman Pritt and Landon Julio, who saw their first ever minutes at the varsity level.  Minutes after the first goal, Center back Ashton Messina broke away from The back line and picked up a point as he sliced through the opposition and assisted Andy Traster for goal number 2.  Twenty minutes into the game Anthony Gill subbed out of goal for Ethan Woolery who completed the shut out and his first ever minutes on the home turf.  Huron continued to push the pace and scored a third when Davenport netted another this time from Evan Town.  Huron was able to secure the 3-0 win and get much needed rest for some players that have really been putting in the effort.   Special thanks to the amazing cheering section that brought life to the stadium with their thoughtful and meaningful cheers and observations
Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Grosse Ile High School
3.0 years ago | Matt Lividini
Lose: 0 - 1
After the 65 minute drive over to the slice of land east of Trenton, the Chiefs put on a well calculated fight that ended in a 1-0 loss.  Junior Anthony Gill played his best game between the pipes as he was able to save, stop, or steer away, nearly everything that came near him.  Defensively, Shane Gill and Ashton Messina directed traffic and outworked the opposing forwards while encouraging fellow defensemen Hayden Stanczyk, Jack Maxwell, Brady Fleszar, and Noah Manthei.  Chandler McCraight, with help from injured Owen Barnes, Luke Hamilton and Drew Slane was able to keep Grosse Ile from mounting an attack up the middle.  0-0 was the halftime score and the Chiefs were prepared to up their efforts in attempt to snatch the game away from the home team.  Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Grosse Ile hit a one time blast upper back corner that put them in the lead and eventually delivered the game to their win column.  Alex Davenport almost scored late in the game when he beat the keeper and the ball grazed off the trailing thigh to be steered away for a corner.  Tyler Toth, Andy Traster, and Evan Town all tried to get through up top and connect with Davenport, but the clock was not in their favor.  The Red Devils were fortunate that newcomer Ethan Woolery did not see the field action because if his skills were at par with his jokes, there would have been no stopping him.
Huron Plays Soccer Friendly At Arrowhead Vs Airport

Win: 8 - 0
Huron welcomed neighboring Airport to a league game that ended early with an 8-0 final.  Hayden Stanczyk assisted Andrew Traster one minute into the game to start the scoring. Chandler McCraight scored three minutes later from Alex Davenport.  Four minutes later Davenport scored from Traster who then scored again from Owen Barnes.  Huron was on point making pass after pass and run after run that looked very methodical and at the 20 minute mark Barnes scored from Tyler Toth.  Under 1 minute later Toth received a ball from Hamilton to secure a 6-0 lead and make way for a massive substitution.  Sebastian Horvath and Carson Downey replaced Stanczyk and Jack Maxwell to join Ashton Messina and Shane Gill in the back line to start some wing back attacks while Brady Fleszar and Drew Slane joined Luke Hamilton in the middle.  Luke Hamilton kept the scoring rolling with his first ever Varsity goal from a Fleszar pass.  Ethan Woolery subbed Anthony Gill for the goalkeeper spot and kept the opposition at zero.  Evan Town replaced Toth as a forward just before Messina made a huge push to the striker position accompanied by Woolery who made his varsity Soccer debut on the field.  After a few minutes on the field, Junior newcomer Ethan Woolery tallied his first ever soccer point by assisting Carson Downey from a corner kick restart.  Downey’s goal ended the game and propelled the Chiefs to 3-1 in the Huron League.
Varsity Soccer At Jefferson

Win: 9 - 1
Tyler Toth broke a goal scoring drought when he laced in his first ever Varsity Hat Trick.  Chandler McCraight assisted Tyler on his first goal 6 minutes into the game followed by the first of Alex Davenport’s Hat Trick. Davenport struck 2 from the spot and finished the game with a header off of a corner kick.  Toth’s Second goal was an individual effort that was unassisted a minute after Davenport scored.  Owen Barnes joined the scoring with 2 on the night, one from the spot and the other a direct free kick that found its way into the goal.  Huron welcomed back Junior Drew Slane who played his first minutes of the season and was able to adjust to the time he had missed. Shane Gill and Ashton Messina anchored the back line and was able to coordinate attacks from the defensive 3rd. The Chiefs went into halftime up 6-1 after a Jefferson corner kick bent right into the goal.  Once the second half had started back up, Toth scored his 3rd of the evening followed by Senior Hayden Stanczyk’s goal from Barnes.  Gill assisted Davenport on the last goal ending the game 9-1 early in the second half.  Huron made a big goal keeping substitution 20 minutes into the game for the ex-football player, Junior, Ethan Woolery.  Woolery who made a huge showing in his debut was able to notch his first save when he came off his line on a corner kick and easily knocked the ball away from all opposing threats.   Monday September 13th the Chiefs are back in action at 7:00 at home vs Airport.
Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Riverview Community High School

Lose: 2 - 3
Huron started a fast paced game and saw Shane Gill play a ball into Alex Davenport who craftily beat his defender and played the ball to an on-running Andrew Traster for the first goal of the game.  Riverview responded a minute later and tied the game up.  Soon after the Pirates added another and went into halftime up 2-1. In the second half, the Chiefs scored when Chandler McCraight bullied his way through defenders and goalkeeper and netted his first of the season.  The fans were treated to a great back and forth match that had many opportunities at both ends eventually seeing Riverview squeak one more in before the end of the 80 minutes.  Hayden Stanczyk, Ashton Messina, Shane Gill, Jack Maxwell, Chandler McCraight, Alex Davenport, Owen Barnes and Brady Fleszar played at a level that was more than respectable and set the standard for what Huron High School Soccer needs to look like moving forward.
Huron Soccer At Milan High School
3.0 years ago | Matt Lividini
Win: 3 - 0
Two and a half minutes into the game Alex Davenport found Andrew Traster for the first goal of the night.  Huron continued to push hard and saw many faces enter the scramble including sophomores, Carson Downey, Luke Hamilton, Sebastian Horvath, and Jack Maxwell.  Juniors who added to the mix were Nik Crispin, Brady Fleszar, Anthony Gill, Tyler Toth, and Evan Town.  Seniors Chandler McCraight, Shane Gill, Hayden Stanczyk, and Ashton Messina worked to control the game as usual and kept the Big Reds of Milan from ever becoming to much of a threat.  Nine first-half offsides plagued the Chiefs from running the score up and sent the game 1-0 into halftime, despite a Davenport goal being called back. Second half action saw Traster return the favor to Davenport who netted his shot.  Later in the half, Davenport found fellow captain, Senior Owen Barnes, who neatly outworked his defender and the goalie to up the score to 3-0.  Barnes nearly scored moments later when the referees couldn’t see if the ball had completely crossed the goal line. 3-0 final and the Chiefs move to 1-0 in the Huron league
Chief’s Soccer Falls to Warrior’s Soccer

Lose: 0 - 2
Huron welcomed the Warriors Friday night to a challenge at the beautiful Arrowhead Stadium and fell 2-0.  With a   strong midfield of seniors, Alex Davenport, Chandler McCraight, and Owen Barnes the Chiefs were attacking and getting some great looks at goal.  Unfortunately the Chiefs gave up a goal in the 13th minute that saw them down 1-0 until late in the half when the  Warriors added another sending the game into halftime 2-0.  With multiple attempts in the first 4 minutes of the second half by Andrew Traster and Chandler McCraight, the Chiefs were nearly right back in the game.  Junior Tyler Toth added some spark and nearly netted a few as well in this hard fought match.  No goals were scored in the second half by either team leaving the Chiefs on the losing end of this battle.
New Boston Huron Hosts Waterford Mott Soccer

Lose: 1 - 2
New Boston Huron had a nail biter of a home opener against Division 1 Waterford Mott.  New Boston attacked fast and hard but repeatedly was denied from scoring.  Waterford on the other foot, had fewer attacking moments but was able to convert a corner kick giving them the 1-0 advantage.  With under 13 minutes left in the first half, Alex Davenport struck the post and Junior Nik Crispin scored off the rebound for his first ever varsity goal.  Knotted 1-1 at half,  the Chiefs decided to take control of the second half and controlled the tempo.  Time kept running out and the Chiefs never were able to score but the visitors scored with 30 seconds left stealing the game out from under the Chiefs.  Huron’s back line consisting of Shane Gill, Ashton Messina, Jack Maxwell, and at times Hayden Stanczyk along with goalkeeper junior Anthony Gill played consistent, strong , and determined to force such an amazing nail biter.
Soccer Season Opener At Allen Park High School

Lose: 1 - 2
Friday night kicked off the 2021 season as the Chiefs traveled to Allen Park. Despite being a well trained, fast paced, possession team, the Chiefs were brought to a near snails pace in the 6” grass and the tractor tire rutted centerfield. Allen Park scored both goals in the first 23 minutes and Huron benefited from an own goal late in the first half.  The remainder of the game was slightly tilted in Huron’s favor but they were held scoreless with the game ending 2-1. Sixteen different players saw the field including, seniors, Owen Barnes, Alex Davenport, Shane Gill, Chandler McCraight, Ashton Messina, Hayden Stanczyk, juniors Brady Fleszar, Anthony Gill, Tyler Toth, Evan Town, sophomores Carson Downey, Luke Hamilton, Sebastian Horvath, Jack Maxwell, Andrew Traster, and freshmen Noah Manthei. The Chiefs are back in action for their home opener Monday 23rd against  Division 1 Waterford Mott
