Huron and Milan had a heated back and forth match last night as Milan got out to an early 1-0 lead. Huron then decided to take over and had near misses by Aidan Dolencic, Carson Downey and Tyler Toth. Sitting at halftime down 1-0, the Chiefs knew they had to steal the game back from the Big Reds and despite starting a bit slow they went to work. Jack Maxwell, Noah Manthei, Ibrahim Muhammad, Drew Slane and Brady Fleszar all worked tiredlessly with each of them getting up and down the field in the attack. Huron brought the game level when Slane tucked the ball into the side netting through traffic after a scramble in front of the goal that he started from heading a corner. Tied at 1’s, the Chiefs kept pushing but got caught on a counter attack that pushed Milan back on top. Carson Downey was able to go unassisted for the tying goal and the level headed, never say never Chiefs kept fighting to push for the win. With tired bodies the Chiefs tried everything but eventually had to settle for the tie. Tough played games by substitutes Ayden Shannon, Roman Pritt, Jordan Stasak, and Ian Petrick, matched the effort that was given on the field by Luke Hamilton and Sebastian Horvath. Andy Traster, who not only ran the forward line for the majority of the game, was also called upon to help out the back line and was able to fulfill that duty as well. Bradley Hughes had another strong night between the pipes controlling nearly everything that came his way and kept the Chiefs able to continue to push for the win. Overall a tough fought game between the #2 and #3 teams that hopefully gave the fans a thrill for their money.
