GROSSE ILE HIGH SCHOOL: 1

Back and forth, full speed, aggressive, physical, non stop action are just a few descriptive terms for what happened in Grosse Ile tonight.  Cody Brenner was outstanding in the goal tonight behind one of the toughest defensive lines Huron has assembled in the past few years.  Once again led by Brendan Pasut, Ashton Messina, Griffin Cholette, and Shane Gill.  Both teams battled back and forth getting opportunities at either end.  Huron’s strong midfield, consisting of Alex Davenport and Chandler McCraight worked tirelessly while newcomers Nhat Vu and Chase Molnar recorded their first ever high school soccer game.  Tyler Toth and Ricky Emelian tried to find access to the Grosse Ile net repeatedly and Emelian was just inches away multiple times.  Andrew Traster, Alec Richardson, Drew Slane, Noah Kilmark, and Hayden Stanczyk all were called on in a much needed time to get the entire squad through some rough patches. 0-0 was the score the entire way through until a Grosse Ile player struck the best shot that resulted in the best goal high school soccer will see this season.  Seventeen minutes left in the game and a beautifully struck volley from 20 yards out found its way through a sea of players to hit netting.  Grosse Ile won the game 1-0 and the only difference in this game was that beautiful shot. What a game!

“I have left that Grosse Ile soccer field five times defeated, but tonight, tonight was something different, this team is something different. This team understands what it is going to take!”  Matt Lividini
