Under new team leadership from Assistant Coach Adam Brenner, Captains Ricky Emelian, Cody Brenner, and Brendan Pasut led their team to its first 2020 victory. Juniors Alex Davenport and Ashton Messina joined the trio of captains to be the five returning players. Taking the field for their first varsity game was, Senior Noah Kilmark, Senior Alec Richardson and Senior Griffin Cholette. New juniors making their first varsity league game were Shane Gill, Chandler McCraight, and Hayden Stanczyk. Sophomores Tyler Toth and Drew Slane accompanied freshmen Andrew Traster to their first Vasity match.
The Chiefs, after weeks of training, finally got to put their skills to the test. Two minutes and sixteen seconds into the game Emelian went on a scoring spree and after twelve minutes had passed and the dust had settled, he had 3 goals and the Chiefs led 3-0. Alex Davenport and Shane Gill assisted goal two and three. Strong defensive play by Pasut and Cholette left the Big Reds from Milan scratching their heads and wondering if a shot on goal was even possible. Brenner did receive five shots that he handled like a true veteran. Freshmen Traster subbed into the game and netted not only his first varsity goal, but his first, second and third. Ironically, Emelian had all 3 assists. This 6-0 win was exciting but not as exciting as being out in the fresh air watching soccer again and feeling like everything was a bit normal! The Chiefs are back in action Monday Sep 14 at 4:30 away vs. Airport
