ROMULUS HIGH SCHOOL: 0
The Chiefs started off the 2018 state tournament with a friendly game against host Romulus. Sal Marchionda scored first from a Brendan Robbins cross. Junior Mackennon Dolencic added the next two goals and his first of the season as Marchionda assisted first followed by junior Travis Russell. Junior Brendan Robbins scored from a direct kick unassisted moments before Dolencic assisted Ryan Toth. Huron removed a couple of players from the pitch to speed up the game and get quicker touches for Robert Oaks, Matisse Dornier Duff, Jacob O’Neil, and newcomer Jordan Comilla who netted his first varsity goal. Goalkeeper Nick Pasut scored from a Chad Sturgill assist and freshmen Alex Davenport scored unassisted as he nearly ripped a hole in the upper netting. The Chiefs were so excited with their win and their advancement in the state tournament that they nearly forgot to get on the bus and was going to just run all the way home and they would’ve if someone could’ve just figured out which way was south. Huron 14-2-3 hosts Tecumseh 14-3-5 this Thursday at 4:00 pm at Arrowhead and yes there will be hot dogs. Arrive early, northbound 275 traffic exit at Will Carleton and southbound 275 traffic exit at #13 Sibley road. Tailgating space is limited so arrive early.
