TRENTON HIGH SCHOOL: 1
Huron traveled to Trenton High School to kick off their season. With new white uniforms and an excitement in the air, Huron only waited moments after the introductions and National Anthem to get things rockin. Junior Brendan Robbins assisted Junior Salvatore Marchionda for Sal’s first of the game. Stand out midfielder Robby Spradlin headed in an Adam Brenner throw in just minutes before Brendan Robbins aided in Vincent Gonzalez’s first ever high school goal. Robbins himself got on the goal board with an assist from Senior Captain Ryan Toth sending the Chiefs into halftime up 4-0. Second half action proved to be just as intriguing as Gonzalez assisted Marchionda, then Brenner assisted Marchionda, then Marchionda assisted Spradlin. Things became even more difficult for the statitioners when Brenner, once again, assisted Marchionda followed by Robbins assisting Marchionda. Not everything was focused on Huron though, Trenton scored a beautiful free kick header in the second half that impressed everyone in attendance and had all soccer lovers applauding. With full respect for their Downriver League opponent, Huron tried to focus on playing well and placing the ball in the back of the net. Captains Nick Pasut and Chad Sturgill anchored the defense as Junior Mackenon Dolencic, sophomore Ricky Emilian, and sophomore Remy Emilian worked tirelessly producing opportunities both defensively and offensively. Junior Jacob O’Neal impressed in his varsity debut as junior Sam Hughes and Junior Travis Russell played confidently in the middle and sides. Senior Robert Oaks and junior Matisse Dornier were also suited for their varsity debut. The Chiefs are back in action Wednesday the 22nd against Monroe Jefferson at Arrowhead Stadium.
