Saturday, Nov. 4 – MHSAA LP Division 2 State Cross Country Finals @ MIS
Huron Cross Country saw four of its athletes compete at the MHSAA LP Division 2 State Finals, benefiting from favorable weather conditions for this prestigious event at the Michigan International Speedway.
In the Division 2 Women’s race, Falyn Doss secured a position in the top quarter of the field placing 62nd, surpassing her school record with a time of 19:27.5, a 6-second improvement. Avery Turk, in her second state appearance, claimed the 127th spot (20:21.2) among 250 runners.
In the Division 2 Men’s Race, Luke Dulecki finished in the top half of the field placing 91st (16:39.5) and Abdul Ghennewa landed in the 129th spot (17:05.6) out of 252 runners.

Sat. Oct. 28 – MHSAA Region 18-2
Under perfect racing conditions on the Lake Erie course at the MHSAA Region 18 competition, the Chiefs advanced four All-Regional runners to the State Finals next Saturday, November 4th at MIS. Congratulations: Falyn Doss, Avery Turk, Luke Dulecki, & Abdul Ghennewa!
In the Boys Varsity D2 race, Luke Dulecki leading the team placed 6th (16:34.4 PR), and Abdul Ghennewa in 10th (16:51.9 SR) both earned All-Region medals and sealed their entry to the state finals. Lucas Kuhn finishing among the top 20 came in at 18th (17:19.1), followed by Louie Macon 37th (18:08.7 PR), Lucas Worrell 41st (18:20.5 PR), Cameron Crane 56th (18:55.3), and Kyle Biller 60th (19:28.0). Huron finished 4th overall once again this year and were only 9 points away from qualifying for states as a team.

Sat. Oct. 21 – Airport Haunted Harvest Invitational@ Airport High School
Following a dispute surrounding the course distance at the Airport Haunted Harvest Invitational, the organizers have taken measures to address the issue. After a remeasurement, it was determined that the course falls short of the initially claimed 5K distance and will now be officially recognized as a 3-mile.
In the men’s varsity race, the Chiefs claimed the Airport Invite Runner-up trophy with four runners medaling among the top 25: Luke Dulecki finished in 5th (16:36.7), followed by Abdul Ghennewa 6th (16:43.7), Kyle Biller 18th (17:21.5^), and Louie Macon 20th (17:31.6^). Lucas Worrell placed 34th (18:04.2^), Evan Banas 56th (18:07.3), and Cole Druyor 57th (19:08.6^) out of 101 runners.

Thurs. Oct. 19 – Huron League Championships @ Willow Metropark
Huron Cross Country took some time to honor our seniors and their parents at the Huron League Championship Meet. Senior yard signs were displayed on the course coming in by the three-mile post. Congratulations Class of 2023-24: Drew Blosser, Natalie Carlile, Garrett Cheney, Abdul Ghennewa, Noah Myshock, Rocco Sells, Hunter Szawara, Roman Whitmore!
Huron Boys XC are Back 2 Back Huron League Champions! The Chiefs had three runners claim 1st Team All-League Honors led by Lucas Kuhn in 3rd (16:57.8), followed by Luke Dulecki 4th (16:59.0), and Abdul Ghennewa in 7th (17:12.4). Kyle Biller placed 17th (18:17.8), Louie Macon 22nd (18:30.9 PR), Lucas Worrell 35th (19:25.7), and Cole Druyor 41st (20:29.2).

The Huron Boys Varsity Cross Country team overcame last-minute lineup changes due to injuries and illness, and the deteriorating course conditions played a role in overall race times. Nevertheless, Huron's Abdul Ghennewa secured 14th place (17:17.8) and Luke Dulecki closely followed in 15th (17:20.2) and medaled among the top 25. Kyle Biller finished in 57th (18:43.7), with Louie Macon in 62nd with a PR (18:49.4 PR), Cole Druyor 103rd (20:25.3), Tanner Kuhn 107th (20:33.8), Broderick Yensch 109th (20:45.2). Huron Cross Country ran in a multi-division competition at the Wayne County Championship meet on Saturday with over 35 schools in attendance.
The Huron Boys Cross Country team earned the Wayne County Division 2 Champion title, their second title on their home course this season, with Lucas Kuhn in 11th earning a medal in the top 35, Luke Dulecki 45th (17:30.6), Lucas Worrell 94th (18:45.6 PR), Cameron Crane 95th (18:45.7), Kyle Biller 97th (18:49.3), Louie Macon 107th (18:58.9 PR), Tanner Kuhn 145th (20:26.0).

The Huron Boys Cross Country team once again placed on top of the field at the second Huron League Jamboree with their top three runners finishing among the top 7: Lucas Kuhn 3rd (17:03.5), Luke Dulecki 4th (17:14.8), and Abdul Ghennewa 6th (17:24.5). Kyle Biller finished 20th (18:58.4), Lucas Worrell 27th (19:23.8), and Cameron Crane right behind in 28th (19:26.5). With Huron’s Boys varsity cross country and JV squads switching off weekends, the Marauder Invite allowed some runners the opportunity to get an additional varsity race under their belt and the freshman to compete among others in their grade while competing on a hillless course for the first time in event history due to work being done on the hill.
In the varsity race, Cole Druyor was our top runner placing 35th (20:18.8 PR) out of 71 runners, Roman Whitmore 40th (20:42.9), followed closely by Broderick Yensch 41st (20:44.8 PR), Deegan Richardson 44th (20:50.5 PR), Ben Holbrook 46th (21:01.0 PR), Noah Myshock 48th (21:07.8), Austin Krause 54th (21:59.5).

In the JV race, Jack Fisher led for the Chiefs in 84th (24:15.0) out of 106 runners, Rocco Sells 93rd (24:52.0), with Drew Blosser on his heels in 94th (24:52.5), Hunter Szawara 102nd (27:16.8), Joel Lazenby 103rd (27:31.4).

Sat. Sept. 24 – Cadillac Invitational
Huron Cross Country made the trip up North to Cadillac once again this year for an overnight out-of-town competition. The weather was much improved from last year’s bitter cold conditions with sun and temperatures in the 60s during race times.
Huron Boys Cross Country earned three medals and two additional PR’s. Lucas Kuhn leading the team had our top finish at 9th place (16:31.6) earning a t-shirt and medal for his top 10 performance. Abdul Ghennewa in 15th (16:52.0) and Luke Dulecki 26th (17:18.6) both earned medals placing in the top 30. Kyle Biller came in at 50th (18:23.9), Lucas Worrell 61st (18:51.9 PR), Cameron Crane 62nd (18:52.8), Louie Macon 70th (19:18.0), Tanner Kuhn 80th (20:07.7), Garrett Cheney 89th (21:17.3).

Tues. Sept. 19 – Huron League Jamboree #1
Huron Boys Cross Country Team finished first overall, outscoring second place Flat Rock by 29 points. Huron and Flat Rock front runners battled it out throughout the course with Lucas Kuhn edging them out coming in 2nd overall with a PR of 16:28.3, Luke Dulecki, nearly being tripped up at the finish came in in front of another FR runner, placed 6th (16:59.7) and Abdul Ghennewa finished 9th (17:05.6), all placing among the top 14. Rounding out our top five was Kyle Biller in 18th (18:12.5 PR) and Cameron Crane 24th (18:41.2 PR). Sat. Sept. 16 – Huron Invitational
Huron XC made school history at the 54th Annual Huron Invitational. For the first time ever, the Boys Varsity team went back to back, winning the Huron Invite two years in a row, and along with the girls winning their division, for the first time in the history of the event, it is the first time both teams shared the honor in the same year. Way to go Chiefs!!
Lucas Kuhn was our front runner finishing 3rd overall (16:46.6 PR), followed by Luke Dulecki 5th (16:51.0 PR), Abdul Ghennewa 8th (17:05.8), Kyle Biller 20th (18:33.1), Cameron Crane 30th (18:59.2 PR), Louie Macon 34th (19:08.0 PR), all earning medals. Lucas Worrell placed 40th (19:22.1 PR), Evan Banas 45th (19:43.3), Roman Whitmore (20:59.9), Cole Druyor (21:18.4).

Tues. Sept. 5 – Erie-Mason “Frank Connolly” Relays - six-mile two-person relay with each runner alternating running a mile three times
Huron Boys Cross Country brings home their first Erie Mason Relays trophy at the 41st annual event. The team secured the championship title with Abdul Ghennewa & Lucas Kuhn finishing in first overall (31:25.5), as well as Lucas Worrell & Luke Dulecki scoring points in 6th (33:27.7) along with Cameron Crane & Kyle Biller in 14th (35:21.7) all earning medals. Huron Cross Country kicked off the race season under the lights at the Lamplighter Invitational on Friday, August 18th. Both teams coming in with a significantly faster start than our previous season.
The Huron Boys Team finished 10th overall. Lucas Duecki, reaching a major milestone going sub 17 for the first time, was our first runner in placing 26th (16:59.9 PR), followed by Lucas Kuhn 33rd (17:11.3), Abdul Ghennewa 48th (17:33.0), Kyle Biller 78th (18:27.3), Cameron Crane 102nd (19:17.9 PR), Cole Druyor 127th (20:25.1 PR), Evan Banas 128th (20:30.6), Roman Whitmore 135th (21:09.9), Noah Myshockk 136th (21:10.4), Ben Holbrook 139th (21:19.1).
