Greggo and Sic work hand in hand to hold Jefferson's offense to 5 hits and one run. Greggo finished the day with 7 strike outs and was in control the entire game. Sic called a great game as well, keeping hitters off balance and moving the ball very well in and out. Defensively, again, though, big plays were made behind her. We did enough in the box to get the runs needed to get the victory. a lot balls in play and some big hits deep in the count, really helped our cause. Very proud of the kids, thats an easy game to look past with Milan coming in tomorrow. They stayed focused and it gives us a shot to finish the season strong with these last two league games.    Kuzara 2-4 Sic 3-4 2RBI Jackson 2-4 Newman 1-3 1 RBI Karver 1-3 Ryan 2-3 1RBI

Win: 15.00 - 0.00
"Kids know what is at stake each game and they seem super focused on finishing strong. Our mindset has been on the day at hand and each day they have handled their business. A win is a win in whatever fashion they come. But happy to see us still being a constant threat on the offensive side and watching our defense play hard." Three innings was all that was needed for the Lady Chiefs this evening. Rylie Greggo threw a perfect game, giving up zero hits, no walks, and the defense made all the plays behind her. She ended with 4 strike outs on 9 batters.  We got out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. A walk to Kuzara got us going and she moved around the bases quite easily, scoring on ball to short from Sic. And from there it was just constant pressure from the offensive side of things. Sic went 1-3 with 3 RBI and hit the ball hard all game. The real story in the lineup to day was Jackson, who had another exceptional day. Going 3-3 with 2 RBI's and two doubles. Newman, Greggo, Rabsy, and Ryan all added 1 hit as well.    Box Score Huron 357. 15 8 0 RV.     000 006
Heartbreak Loss to Milan: Chiefs Go Down 5-4

Lose: 4.00 - 5.00
What a day! Hard to put into word the rush from games like the one had this evening. With everything on the line, everything was given. Both sides battled back in forth in what ended with a 5-4 loss to Milan. Despite losing, many positive notes came from the day.  Our Lady Chiefs battled all game. Tied in the 4th in a 1-1 game we ran into a bit of a defensive inning. Struggling on that side of the ball, which is out of character for us. We gave up four runs in the 4th and gave Milan the 5-1 lead. When all hope was though to be lost, we chipped our way back in it. Scoring two runs of back to back hits. With two outs and a runner on first, Karver in a pinch hitting situation, hit an absolute bomb. to bring the score to 5-4. We had two more hits and pass ball, bringing the tying run and winning one into scoring position. But were unable to push them through. We put some pressure back on them in the 7th but ultimately couldn't sneak the extra run out.  It was a game that was played well for 98% of it and the moments of failed execution we will work on and be ready in the next big moment. These kids played their butt's off today.Greggo pitched amazing, her passion and fire were at the highest point of the year. She is really coming along and becoming the heart beat when out there. Im so proud of the game she threw and the passion put into today. She definitely left it all out there and her teammates did as well.  Marissa Jackson rolled today in the box and man she put the work in for today. Going 3-4 and being a force in the box. Greggo also had a fantastic day on both sides, going 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Karver 1-1 with a 2 Run home run. Ava Ryan 1-3, Sic and Kuzara 1-3. Greg

Win: 11.00 - 0.00
"The girls knew I was pretty nervous about this game. Prom coming up Friday, focus can sometimes be deterred. They assured me they would handle buisness and they did just that. It wasn't our flashiest game on defense but we still made key plays in big moments. Greggo did a good job pushing through but the story of the game was the offensive performance. Airport didn't make many errors we just hit the crap out of the ball. We did so on two strikes again which is becoming a huge part of our makeup, and that is what makes our lineup so hard to throw to. Kuzara led the way with two homeruns on the day and Sic was 4-4 in the box with 3 RBI's of her own. Miles, Newman and Jackson all had two hits and we had a couple big key hits from others. Ava Ryan started the biggest rally of the day hitting a triple to the right side to lead off the fourth. That wasa big inning for us and really allowed us to stretch the lead out. We keep talking about big wins. Every team in this league has potential to get ya- so every league win is huge. " Rylie Greggo didn't allow a single run against Airport Varsity Jets, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Huron Varsity Chiefs to a 11-0 victory on Wednesday Huron Varsity Chiefs fired up the offense in the first inning, when Emma Sic doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Huron Varsity Chiefs tallied five runs in the fourth inning.  Huron Varsity Chiefs's big inning was driven by singles by Sic, Erin Newman, and Madison Miles. One bright spot for Airport Varsity Jets was a single by Danielle Dalpiaz in the second inning. Greggo pitched Huron Varsity Chiefs to victory. Jenna Kuzara had a four bagger in the second and fifth innings. Greggo Throws Shut Out No Hitter in Big Win Over SMCC

Win: 11.00 - 0.00
Every league game is a big game right now. Edging one step closer to season goals. But today was such a great display of the character of this team. Rylie Greggo threw a great game, pounding the zone all game long. Shes getting so much better about attacking early and throwing more strikes. Trusting her defense. And what a show the defense put on. Miles played one of her best games of the season coming up with a couple big defensive plays. Kuzara at third was also a cornerstone piece on the day. But for me the biggest sign of a winning mindset was our approach with two strikes. We fell behind most counts and had the majority of our hits on two strikes. You do that, those are daggers and completly change the momentum of the game. I think of our eleven runs scored, seven had to have been on 2 strike at bats. That speaks volumes about our lineup and the kids mindset. Every league win is a huge win, this one is no differen.t    Rylie Greggo was brilliant on the rubber on Monday, as Greggo threw a no-hitter to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs past SMCC Kestrels Softball 11-0. Huron Varsity Chiefs opened up scoring in the first inning.  Huron Varsity Chiefs scored one run when Erin Newman doubled. Huron Varsity Chiefs scored four runs in the fourth inning.  Ava Ryan, Emma Sic, and Newman each had RBIs in the frame. Greggo led the Huron Varsity Chiefs to victory in the pitcher's circle. Greggo lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out six and walking one. Alayna Pinkelman started the game for SMCC Kestrels Softball. Pinkelman lasted two innings, allowing six hits and four runs while walking zero.  Faith Dean threw two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. Huron Varsity Chiefs launched one home run on the day. Jenna Kuzara had a homer in the fifth inning. Huron Varsity Chiefs saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits in the game.  Newman, Kuzara, Madison Miles, and Sic all had multiple hits for Huron Varsity Chiefs.  Kuzara and Newman each collected three hits to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs.  Huron Varsity Chiefs didn't commit a single error in the field. Sic had the most chances in the field with seven.   Box Score  SMCC 00000 001 Huron 13043  11 14 0   Kuzara 3-4 1 Homerun 3 RBI Sic 2-3 1RBI Jackson 1-3 Newman 3-3 3RBI Miles 2-3 Ramsby 1-1 1RBI Diegel 1-2 1RBI Ryan 0-2 1 RBI Karver 1-1 1RBI
Consistency Brings Big Win Over Jefferson Bears 10-0

Emma Sic set the tone early. A single early in the top of the 1st followed by aggressive base running, allowed her to make it around the bases on two pitches and score just a couple pitches later. She picked up on miscue from the opposing team and took advantage. And im convinced that play that moved her to third set the stage for what was to come from the Huron offense. It gave us a bit of momentum and we really took advantage. Jackson had a big hit in the first to score Newman as well- battled with two strikes, and that gave us two runs pretty quickly. They were an offensive onslaught for us today and the team rallied around and chipped away. We only had 7 hits, but we put balls in play hard, small balled, and kept the pressure on their D.  Our defense was the best I have seen it in awhile as well. Our defense collectively is always very good but they worked out of some key situations and the middle infield today was fire. In sync and working together- big outs at key moments. Greggo pitched maybe her best game of the year. The biggest plus side to her performance is that she rose to the occasion of me telling them this was the game I had been the most nervous for this week. Jefferson has improved tremendously and it is not a team to over look. A game that can easily ruin your hopes of contending for anything. So to see all of them with the focus they brought- its something that needs to be acknowledged. Im proud of how they won today and how they all pulled together in some fashion. Rylie Greggo threw a shutout to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs past Jefferson 10-0 on Wednesday. Huron Varsity Chiefs secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning.  The offensive onslaught came from a single by Emma Sic,  by Greggo, and an error on a ball put in play by Addison Ramsby. In the first inning, Huron Varsity Chiefs got their offense started.  Marissa Jackson doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. Huron Varsity Chiefs notched six runs in the fourth inning.  Huron Varsity Chiefs offense in the inning was led by Sic, Greggo, and Ramsby, who all drove in runs. A single by Lebor in the third inning was a positive for Jefferson. Greggo led things off on the rubber for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking one. Perry was on the rubber for Jefferson. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs while striking out three. Huron Varsity Chiefs collected seven hits.  Sic and Jackson all managed multiple hits for Huron Varsity Chiefs.  Jackson and Sic all had three hits to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs.   Box Score H 3016  10 7 1 J 0000. 0 2 4   Sic 3-3 1 RBI Jackson 3-3 1 RBI Greggo 1RBI Rambsy 1 RBI Miles 1-3 1RBI

Box Score: Huron: 8003028   21 21 2 Gross  1010200  4 4 4 Sometimes things just click on all cylinders and today was that kind of day. The days started with an offensive onslaught and continued really through the entire game. Defensively some big plays were had. Marissa Jackson made a big play in center robbing a home run. That shut down a possible rally from Grosse Ile. Kids swung hard and swung well and picked each other up all game. It was really nice to see Dober, Spears, and Pender get some reps in today as well. I thought Pender came in and did a nice job giving relief to Greggo and picking up where she left off.  Jenna Kuzara would not be denied at the plate on Monday, picking up five hits and leading Huron Varsity Chiefs to a 21-4 win over Grosse Ile Varsity Red Devils.  Kuzara singled in the first, doubled in the first, singled in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and hit a grand slam in the seventh. Huron Varsity Chiefs opened up scoring in the first inning.  Erin Newman drove in one when Newman singled. Win: 13.00 - 2.00
Tough day to be playing. Between the cold, rain, and wind...did not make for a pleasant day at the field. None the less, the kids came together to get the job done. We talked early about this being a mental toughness day and it was a win that we couldn't let slip away. The kids started hot and finished strong. Airport 0000000 0 4 2 Huron  041022x 9 12 1 "Discipline has been a topic of conversation the past week. Not because we are undisciplined but because we haven't been disciplined in key situations. Partly from coaching calls and partly to execution. I was very proud of our group and the discipline to the situation. These kids put a selfless mindset forward and really executed in key situations. Win: 14.00 - 4.00
Super happy to see the girls bounce back after such a hard loss on Tuesday! We had a bit of a chip on our shoulder, nice to see the kids firing back on all cylinders in the batters box. Many kids stepped up, took counts deep, and connected on two strikes. On top of some huge timely hits. SMCC made a little bit a run in the third and fourth inning- but we stepped back in the box and earned back what we gave up. The difference in 48 hours, stopping the bleeding and keeping pressure on the opponent verse sitting back and not finishing. Super proud of the kids. Marissa Jackson came the ballpark and meant business on Thursday, driving in five on three hits to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs past SMCC Kestrels Softball 14-4 on Thursday.  Jackson drove in runs on a single in the first, a triple in the second, a in the fifth, and a single in the seventh.
