The JV Volleyball News Herald Tournament was held Saturday at Lincoln Park HS.  The Lady Chiefs played well throughout pool play easily beating Melvindale and Cabrini.  Our third pool game was against Woodhaven who we lost to earlier in the season.  The girls played their best game of the year beating Woodhaven in both sets which left Huron as the #1 seed going into the Gold Bracket.  

Bracket play started with Huron defeating Southgate in two sets, and then having to face a very tough Trenton team in the semi finals. It was a tough game and Huron took the win going to three sets.  Going into the championship game we came to face Woodhaven again.  It isn't easy beating a team twice, yet alone a tough team like Woodhaven.  The Lady Chiefs came out strong winning the first set 25-18, yet lost the second set 21-25. Everything was on the line for winning the last set to 15 and it was definitely a battle against two very tired teams.  Huron took the win 15-13 naming them News Herald Champions!

The team played incredible throughout the day.  Each win was a team effort.  There were many highs and lows, but at any given time we had players ready to step up and shine when the team needed them.  They picked each other up and played through whatever struggle they faced individually.  It was a long day and it was fun to watch these girls battle through and earn the win they deserved.
