The JV volleyball team had their last game of the season Wednesday night playing at Flat Rock.  The Chiefs wasted no time getting things started and won all three sets: 25-16, 25-15 & 25-19.  The team played great against a competitive Flat Rock team.  It's fun to see their hard work and dedication pay off as they successfully ran a few plays that are typically only run at the varsity level.  This team was fun and very supportive of one another.  They had a great season with only having 2 league losses.   Stat Leaders:  Hannah Wellman 6 kills, 1 block; Raigen Smith 5 aces, 9 digs, 13 assists; Lila Monte 9 digs; Simone Cicotte and Aubrey Perhase both added 5 kills also.   CONGRATS on a great season!!!  Go Chiefs!!

The JV Volleyball team had their last home game on Monday night beating Jefferson in all 3 sets: 25-17, 25-18 & 25-6.  The girls played really well.  I'm happy to see them using certain plays in a game setting that we weren't ready to run earlier in the season.  It shows how much they've progressed and how much more confident they are as a team.  The girls will go on to play at the News Herald Tournament this Saturday.   Good luck Chiefs! Monday nights game was a slow start for the Chiefs.  The Chiefs lost the first set 14-25.  It didn't take long for them to turn things around and win the next two sets for the win: 25-16 & 25-18.  It was a great comeback and not always something easy to do.  Although they were down, the girls pulled through and made the adjustments they needed to win.  I'm proud of them for being able to do that despite the way they started.  I'm glad to see they took charge and got the WIN!  They work hard and deserve it.    Come cheer us on Wednesday night as we play our last home again against Monroe Jefferson at 5:30.  Stat leaders:  Hannah Wellman 6 kills, 1 block; Madison Huff 5 aces; Lila Monte 4 aces, 10 digs; and Raigen Smith 7 digs, 11 assists.  

JV Volleyball defeats Taylor during our annual PINK OUT game Wednesday 25-11 and 25-13!  Huron led the way throughout the first two sets never losing the lead.  The PINK OUT event was a success and they raised over $1500 for the cause.    Stat leaders:  Olivia Moreno with 6 kills, 4 digs; Faith Trombly with 6 kills; Lila Monte with 7 aces, 5 digs; and Raigen Smith with 4 aces, 5 digs, and 10 assists.   Good luck to the team as they head to compete at the Milan Tournament this Saturday!

JV Volleyball had no issues beating Riverview in two sets Monday night: 25-12 & 25-19.  The girls started out strong and kept the momentum going into set two.  We played well and showed a lot of confidence on the court.  I'm happy to see their hard work paying off.  Stat leaders: Lila Monte 7 digs; Olivia Moreno 5 kills; 5 digs; Simone Cicotte 4 aces, 5 kills; Faith Trombly 8 kills; Raigen Smith 2 aces, 9 digs, and 9 assists. The JV Volleyball team beat a tough Airport team on Wednesday night.  The girls started out strong and held the pace throughout the first two sets winning: 25=17 & 25-22.  It was a competitive game and we played well.  We continue to improve and work together to find a way to win.  It is a true team effort with this group and that makes me proud.   Stat leaders: Riley Lambert with 3 aces; Raigen Smith with 4 aces, 6 digs, 8 assists; Faith Trombly with 7 kills; Lila Monte with 11 digs; and Madison Huff with 2 aces, 14 digs. The JV volleyball team took a tough loss to Milan on Monday.  Despite a close game going back and forth with the lead during the 3rd set, the Chiefs fell short of the win: 15-25, 25-15 & 15-17.  We started out flat and just couldn't pull ourselves out from falling behind in the first set.  The next set was a different story and we set the pace leading the entire time.  The last set was a battle, but we still couldn't find our groove.  We simply got out-played and out-hustled.  These are the losses that bother you, yet learn so much from them.  Wish us luck as we play at home verse Airport on Wednesday! The JV volleyball team took 3rd in the Bedford Tournament on Saturday.  Despite being placed in the toughest pool with SMCC and Allen Park, the Chiefs battled in the gold bracket losing in the semi-finals while facing SMCC for the second time that day.  While SMCC went on to win the tournament, we were the only team that really challenged them on the day.  Our earlier pool games resulted in losses by only 1-2 points against them.  The girls are working hard and showing improvement and growth each week.  You can't ask for much more than that and I am super proud of them.  Wish us luck as we play at Milan at 5:30 on Monday! The Chiefs won a close game against Grosse Ile Wednesday night.  Despite losing the first set, we came back to win the following sets:  23-25, 25-23 & 25-20.  We struggled a bit with consistency and have been focusing more on playing smart.  These are the games we learn the most from, and I'm happy to see the team making adjustments each week to continue to improve.   Stat leaders: Raigen Smith with 18 assists and 7 digs; Anna Hussey with 4 aces; Faith Trombly with 12 kills; and Madison Huff with 7 digs.   Wish the Chiefs luck as we head to Bedford High School this Saturday for a tournament. The Huron JV Volleyball team was victorious over Flat Rock Monday night winning all 3 sets:  25-14, 25-23, & 25-9.  The team came out strong from the start. Our defense was solid and it allowed our offense to go to work.  Each week we get better and starting to build some great chemistry on the court together.  Wish us luck as we head to Grosse Ile to compete on Wednesday at 5:30! The JV volleyball team beat Monroe Jefferson Wednesday night in all 3 sets: 25-17, 25-16 & 25-16.  Despite having a slow start in the first set, the chiefs really pulled together and dominated the game the rest of the night.  Simone Cicotte had 9 aces and 3 kills. Olivia Moreno with 5 kills. Raigen Smith with 6 aces, 11 digs, and 16 assists.  Anna Hussey with 3 aces and 7 digs.  Lila Monte with 9 digs, and Faith Trombly with 10 kills.  The team will face Flat Rock at home on Monday 9/19 at 5:30.  GO CHIEFS!!

The JV volleyball team had their home opener Monday night against SMCC.  Despite losing in the first 2 sets, the chiefs held their own and battled hard during the 2nd set losing 22-25.  SMCC is an extremely tough team to beat and it was great to see the girls compete on their level.  This team is a competitive group of girls and they will have a great season.  Please wish them luck as they compete at Monroe Jefferson on Wednesday at 5:30.  Go Chiefs!

The junior varsity volleyball team started their season out last Wednesday with a tournament at Erie Mason.  The team took 1st place in the silver bracket.  This was a great start to the season and I look forward to see how this team progresses over the next few weeks.  Our next event will be on September 6 for a quad at Melvindale High School.  Great job Chiefs!
