MHSAA D2 State Finals @ Hamilton High School - Sat. June 1, 2024

Huron’s Track had three athletes compete in four events at the MHSAA D2 State Finals on a rainy Saturday, June 1st, at Hamilton High School. Dylan Hudkins participated in both hurdles events, finishing 16th in the state in the 110M hurdles and 15th in the 300M hurdles. Despite recovering from a hamstring injury, Lucas Kuhn placed 25th in the 1600M run. Representing our women’s team, Avery Turk secured 19th in the 300M hurdles. Congratulations to all on your accomplishments this season!

Downriver 9th Grade Invite @ Wyandotte

Huron Track’s freshman class showcased their talents at the Downriver 9th Grade Invitational, competing against other 9th graders and excelling across multiple events. They claimed the title of 9th Grade Champions in four events and were runners-up in another four.
Cameron Crane claimed the top spot in two events, becoming the 9th Grade Champion in the 1600M run and the pole vault, where he set a personal record with a vault of 12’6”, an impressive 15” improvement. Crane also secured the runner-up position in the 4×400M relay alongside teammates Jamil Brown, Matthew Hussey, and Marton Krajcz. Hussey also claimed the runner-up spot in the 1600M run.
Marton Krajcz won the title of Invite Champion in the 400M run and placed 6th in the 100M dash. Jamil Brown was the runner-up in the 100M dash with a personal record of 11.99 seconds and finished third in the 200M dash. Brown’s 4×100M relay team, including Landon Huggins, Austin Shastal, and Jimmy Harrison, took third place, with Huggins also placing 6th in the 100M dash.
Cayden Kilby stood out in the jumps, becoming the 9th Grade Champion in the high jump and finishing 4th in the long jump. Kilby was part of the Coed 4×400M relay team that finished as meet runners-up, along with Kyle Siggett, Macy Bauman, and Savanna Rupnow, with Siggett placing third in the 1600M run making it a complete sweep for the Chiefs in that event.
Austin Krause medaled in both hurdles events, securing 4th place in the 110M hurdles and 5th place in the 300M hurdles.
In addition to the coed 4×400M relay, the women’s team achieved medals in four other events, three with third-place overall finishes. Savanna Rupnow placed third in the 400M dash with Julia Welch claiming 6th place. Welch also jumped to third in the high jump. Brooklyn Ladach finished 3rd in the shot put with a personal record throw of 69’11”, with Cecilia Evans medaling in 6th for the 1600M run.

League Meet @ Grosse Ile HS 5/21/24

Huron Men’s Track finished third place at the Huron League Meet with 91 points, earning All-League honors in seven events under the scorching heat at Grosse Ile. 1st Team All-League was achieved by Shaun Folkwein, Kyle Biller, Dylan Hudkins, and Hunter Mihal in the 4x400M Relay and Cameron Crane in the pole vault. 2nd Team All-League honors went to Dylan Hudkins, Gavin Scannell, Jamil Brown, and Shaun Folkwein in the 4x100M relay, Hunter Mihal 400M dash, Dylan Hudkins 300M hurdles, Luke Dulecki 3200M run, and Rocco Sells in the high jump.

Huron Men's Track Qualify for State Finals in Three Events

Region 16-2 @ Chelsea HS 5/17/24

The Huron Track Teams experienced a roller coaster of emotions as they qualified for the State Finals in four events while narrowly missing the mark in six others, coming in just short on qualifying times and placements.

The Huron Men’s Track team experienced a significant emotional swing, highlighted by Lucas Kuhn's outstanding performance in the 1600M run. Kuhn flawlessly executed his game plan to become the regional champion setting a new school record with a time of 4:20.66. However, in the 4x400M relay, his triumphant day took a dramatic turn when he suffered a heart-stopping hamstring injury in the final 200 meters of his leg, where his team, including Folkwein, Biller, and Mihal, was on pace for qualifying. Dylan Hudkins surpassed the additional qualifying times, securing 4th place in the 110M hurdles with a time of 15.51 and in the 300M hurdles, punching his ticket to the State Finals. In the 300M hurdles, Hudkins not only met the standard but also set a new school record with an impressive time of 40.60. The Chiefs were tantalizingly close to achieving additional qualifying times, with Shaun Folkwein clocking in at 11.40 in the 100M dash (a personal record), Hunter Mihal finishing the 400M dash in 51.66, Lucas Kuhn completing the 800M run in 2:00.66, and Luke Dulecki crossing the line at 9:48.46 in the 3200M run. The team shows promise for the future and is poised to return even more determined for the 2025 Regional meet.

Metro Classic 5/11/24

Huron Men’s Track secured the 3rd place banner at the Metro Classic Invitational on Saturday. Luke Dulecki delivered the standout individual performance for the team, claiming the Metro Classic Champion title in the 3200M run, clocking an impressive sub-10-minute time of 9:54.37 PR. The 4x400M relay team, narrowly missing the school record, sprinted to victory in 3:28.83, led by Shaun Folkwein, Kyle Biller, Lucas Kuhn, and Hunter Mihal also emerged with a championship title and coveted custom relay batons. Kuhn earned runner-up recognition in both the 800M and 1600M runs. Additionally, Dylan Hudkins earned runner-up in the 110M hurdles and 3rd place in the 300M hurdles. Other standout performances were Hunter Mihal coming in at 3rd in the 400M dash and Cayden Kilby 3rd place in the high jump.

Huron vs SMCC/Grosse Ile/Riverview @ Huron Quad 5/7/24

In our final regular season showdown, Huron Men’s Track competed head to head against SMCC, Grosse Ile, and Riveriver in a Quad meet. Huron triumphed convincingly over SMCC with a score of 110 to 17 and Grosse Ile with a solid 92 to 38. However, they faced a tough challenge against Riverview, ultimately falling short with a score of 51 to 77. Despite the mixed outcomes, the Chiefs showcased their dominance, securing first place overall in six events. Dylan Hudkins clinched first place against all three teams in both the 110M and 300M hurdles, Hunter Mihal in the 400M dash, Lucas Dulecki in the 3200M Run, and Cameron Crane in the pole vault. In another intense run down, the 4x400M relay seized the top spot with Shaun Folkwein, Kyle Biller, Vit Ulman, and Hunter Mihal.

Huron Men’s track secured the runner-up spot at the Ram Relays, with an impressive performance across various relay events. Seven of our relay teams clinched medals, including champion titles for the Mid-Distance Medley Relay-2400M team (comprising Worrell, Biller, Ulman, and Kuhn), the Sprint Medley Relay-800M team (featuring Hudkins, Scannell, Folkwein, and Mihal), the 4x800M Relay squad (led by Dulecki, Worrell, Biller, and Kuhn), and outstanding individual achievements by Kilby, setting a personal record at 6’0, and Sells in the high jump event combined to take the top spot.

Huron vs Flat Rock 4/30/24

Huron Men’s Track journeyed to Flat Rock on Tuesday, where they dominated in 13 events, including sweeping all four relays. Dylan Hudkins was our leading scorer clinching first place in the 300M hurdles, with a time of 41.04c, just two-tenths of a second shy of the school record. Hudkins also secured top spots in the long jump, 110M hurdles, and the 4x100M relay alongside Scannell, Brown, and Folkwein. Shaun Folkwein, making his dual meet debut, claimed first in the 100M, 200M, 4x100M relay, and the 4x400M relay along with Biller, Nutter, and Mihal. Matthew Nutter earned second in the shot put improving his personal record by nearly 3 feet. Final score Huron 85 – Flat Rock 43.

Marauder Invitational – Battle of the Leagues (HL vs DRL) 4/26/24

The inaugural Battle of the Leagues competitions, hosted by Marauder Invitational, pitted the Huron League against the Downriver League in a showdown to determine the ultimate victor.

 

The Huron Men’s Track team played a pivotal role in securing the championship title by finishing third overall in the competition. Leading the pack was Lucas Kuhn, securing second place in the 1600M run with an impressive time of 4:25.99, just half a second shy of the school record. He also claimed runner-up in the 800M run and contributed to the second-place finish in the 4x400M relay, alongside teammates Vit Ulman, Kyle Biller, and Hunter Mihal. Mihal showcased his talent with a third-place finish in the 400M dash and a seventh-place finish in the 100M dash. Cayden Kilby sprong to victory as the Marauder Invitational High Jump Champion, delivering the team's top performance of the evening. Luke Dulecki demonstrated his competitive spirit with a third-place finish in the 3200M run and a fourth-place finish in the 4x800M relay, teaming up with Worrell, Biller, and Druyor. Dylan Hudkins exhibited his talent in the hurdles, securing fourth place in the 110M, and seventh place in the 300M hurdles. Cameron Crane's skill earned him a fifth-place medal in the pole vault event.

Huron vs Jefferson 4/24/24

Huron's matchup against Jefferson saw brighter skies after a one-day delay caused by inclement weather.

 

Huron Men's Track encountered stiff competition in a tightly contested meet against Jefferson. The critical juncture came during the last event of the night, where the Chiefs secured the win by dominating the 4x400M relay (Ulman, Biller, Kuhn L, Mihal). Hunter Mihal claimed the title of top scorer by securing first place in the 100M, 200M, 400M, and anchoring the 4x400M relay team. Other notable performances include Lucas Kuhn's first-place finishes in the 800M, 1600M, 4x400M, and 4x800M relays (with Dulecki, Worrell, and Biller), and Dylan Hudkins' second-place finishes in the 110M and 300M hurdles, first place in the 4x100M relay (with Scannell, Lundy, and Brown), and a third-place finish in the long jump. Final score Huron 67 – Jefferson 61.

Warrior Classic 4/20/24

The Warrior Classic at Woodhaven High School presented a tough day for athletes due to high winds and low temperatures, significantly impacting field events and sprint performances.

 

The Huron Men’s Track team achieved a commendable 6th place overall at the Warrior Classic, securing a spot in the top third of the competition. Leading the charge was Lucas Kuhn, accumulating 16.75 points. Kuhn claimed victory as the Warrior Classic Champion in the 1600M run (4:41.61 PR), fourth in the 800M run, and fifth in the 4x800M relay alongside teammates Luke Dulecki, Lucas Worrell, and Kyle Biller. Additionally, he contributed to a six-place finish in the 4x400M relay with Dylan Hudkins, Kyle Biller, and Hunter Mihal. Hunter Mihal clinched third place in the 400M dash while Cayden Kilby soared to third place overall in the high jump. Additional medals were earned by Luke Dulecki placing fourth in the 3200M run, along with Rocco Sells in the high jump and Dylan Hudkins in the 110M hurdles both placing sixth in their respective events and Cameron Crane finishing in seventh for the pole vault.

Huron vs Airport 4/16/24

Huron Men’s Track secured an impressive victory against Airport, keeping their opponents off the board in five events. The team achieved sweeps in the 1600M Run (Kuhn, Hussey, Worrell) as well as the 200M Dash (Mihal, Brown, Scannell) and clinched first-place finishes in three relay events. Dylan Hudkins shone brightly, claiming first in all four of his events: the 110M and 300M hurdles, long jump, and 4x100M (Hudkins, Scannell, Myshock, and Brown). Hunter Mihal stood out with victories in all three open sprint events (100M, 200M, 400M). Lucas Kuhn also contributed significantly with first-place finishes in the 800M and 1600M, along with a win in the 4x800M (Dulecki, Worrell, and Biller, Kuhn). Final score Huron 84 – Airport 44.

Huron vs Milan 4/9/24

Huron Track traveled to Milan for our debut competition of the season, encountering unusually warm temperatures that soared to record highs.

Huron Men’s Track clinched first place in 8 events, including a sweep in the 3200M Run (Crane, Worrell, Macon).  Notably, Lucas Dulecki emerged as the top point scorer for the team, with first place finishes in the 1600M, 800M, and both the 4x800M (Dulecki, Worrell, Siggett, Kuhn L) and 4x400M relays (Hudkins, Dulecki, Krajcz, Kuhn L). Dylan Hudkins also left his mark with wins in the 110M & 300M Hurdles, as well as the 4x400M. Final score Huron 51 – Milan 77.
