  The Varsity Chiefs traveled to Dearborn Heights Crestwood to take on the Chargers Friday night.  This was a high-stakes game, as it determined whether or not they would qualify for the playoffs.  The Chiefs played a solid game and walked away with a 42-12 victory. Gavin Moczydlowski was 11-17 passing for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns.  He also had 12 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown.  Rory Callahan had 5 receptions for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Micah Smith had 9 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown, and he had 3 receptions for 22 yards.  Xavier Elliott had 6 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown.  Sammy Farrugia had 2 receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown.  Ryan Anderson had 2 receptions for 37 yards.  Austin O’Dell had 6 carries for 23 yards.  Ethan Woolery had a reception for 7 yards.  Defensively, Woolery had 2 tackles, i tackle for loss, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery.  Ashton Warren had 3 tackles and an interception (20 yard return).  Drew Ladach had 6 tackles.  Wyatt Marentette had 4 tackles.  Jesse Brown had 5 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and an interception.  Rory Callahan had 3 tackles and 1 pass deflected.  The Chiefs (6-3 Overall, 5-2 Huron League) will travel to Gibraltar Carlson for the first round of the MHSAA playoffs on Friday, October 28.  Game time is 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

Lose: 28.00 - 29.00
  The Varsity Huron Chiefs hosted their last regular game of the season on Friday against the Flat Rock Rams.  It was a back and forth affair, but the Chiefs fell short, losing 29-28.  Offensively, Gavin Moczydlowsky was 8-15 for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns.  He also rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown.  Micah Smith had 11 carries for 58 yards and had 3 receptions for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Rory Callahan had 1 rush for 10 yards and 2 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.  Ethan Woolery, Sammy Farrugia and Chad Martin also recorded receptions in the game.  Defensively, Wyatt Marentette had 6 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Micah Smith had 6 tackles.  Gavin Moczydlowsky had 5 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.  Rory Callahan had 3 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.  Ethan Woolery had 2 tackles and 1 pass deflection.  Josh Buettner had 2 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.  Ryan Anderson had 4 tackles and 1 pass deflection.  Jesse Brown had 1 tackle for loss.  Bradley Purcell, Ashton Warren, Sammy Farrugia, Jayden Rogan, Austin O’Dell, Drew Ladach and Austin Holloway also provided tackles.  The Chiefs (5-3 Overall, 5-2 Huron League) will close the regular season this Friday, October 21 against the Chargers of Crestwood in a non-league game.  The game will be played at Crestwood High School at 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

Win: 33.00 - 6.00
  On Friday night, the Varsity Huron Chiefs traveled to Navarre Field to face the SMCC Falcons.  Huron kept their momentum and won the game by a score of 33-6.  The first score of the night came on a 47 yard run by Gavin Moczydlowsky in the 1st quarter.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT to make it 7-0.  The next came when Josh Buettner blocked a punt and scooped and scored on a 22 yard return making the score 13-0 in the 1st quarter.  Huron struck again in the 2nd quarter as Gavin Moczydlowsky connected with Micah Smith on a 19 yard reception making the score 19-0 at the half.  Huron scored first in the 2nd half on a 6 yard run by Gavin Moczydlowsky.  Moczydlowsky also scrambled and scored on the 2 point conversion attempt making it 27-0.  SMCC was able to get on the board in the 3rd quarter, but the extra point attempt was blocked by Josh Buettner keeping the score at 27-6.  The final touchdown of the game was scored by Micah Smith on a 25 yard run.  After a failed 2 point conversion attempt, the final score was 33-6.  Offensively, Gavin Moczydlowsky was 7-11 for 131 yards and 1 touchdown.  He also had 8 carries for 97 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.  Micah Smith had 5 carries for 62 yards and a rushing touchdown and 1 reception for 19 yards and a touchdown.  Christian Copley had 4 carries for 13 yards and 1 reception for 16 yards.  Sammy Farrugia had 4 carries for 28 yards and one reception for 16 yards.  Rory Callahan had one reception for 50 yards.  Ethan Woolery had 2 receptions for 14 yards.  Chad Martin had 1 reception for 16 yards.  Defensively, the Chiefs had another strong team performance.  Josh Buettner had multiple tackles, a sack, a punt block, and a scoop and score.  Wyatt Marentette had 9 tackles including 2 for a loss.  Jesse Brown had 4 tackles including 2 for a loss and a forced fumble.  Ethan Woolery provided strong edge play with 5 tackles.  Rory Callahan had 5 tackles including 2 for a loss.  Micah Smith had 6 tackles including one for a loss.  Ashton Warren had 5 tackles and 2 very significant pass breakups.  Drew Ladach also played very well and had multiple tackles.  Aidan Witt and Jose Leija also helped on the defensive front.  The Chiefs (5-2 Overall, 5-1 Huron League) will welcome the Flat Rock Rams for a Week 8 showdown for rivalry week.  This will be the very 1st War for the Oar.  The game is on Friday, October 14 at 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

Win: 27.00 - 0.00
  The Huron Chiefs welcomed in the Grosse Ile Red Devils on Friday night for Homecoming, and they gave the crowd something to be excited about as they won by a score of 27-0.  The first touchdown of the night was scored by Gavin Moczydlowsky on a 17 yard run in the 1st quarter.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT to make the score 7-0.  Moczydlowsky scored the second touchdown of the evening on a 2 yard run in the 2nd quarter.  Gill kicked the PAT making the score 14-0 at halftime.  During the halftime celebration, our own Ethan Woolery won Homecoming King.  He had something else to celebrate in the 3rd quarter, as he scored the 3rd touchdown of the evening on a 28 yard pass from Moczydlowsky. This put the score at 20-0.  The final touchdown of the evening was scored by Rory Callahan on a 30 yard pass from Moczydlowsky in the 4th quarter.  Gill kicked the PAT making the score 27-0.  Offensively, Moczydlowsky was 4 of 10 for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He also had 12 carries for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Christian Copley had 12 carries for 63 yards.  Micah Smith had 12 carries for 59 yards and one reception for 8 yards.  Sammy Farrugia, Rory Callahan, Ryan Anderson and Austin O'Dell all provided rushing yards as well.  Rory Callahan had 2 receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown.  Ethan Woolery had 1 reception for 28 yards and a touchdown.  Defensively, the score tells the story.  The Chiefs played great defense and shut out a Grosse Ile team that has been scoring a lot of points every week.  Jesse Brown had a tremendous game recording 10 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss.  Rory Callahan had 3 sacks and a fumble recovery.  Josh Buettner had 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss and caused a fumble.  Micah Smith, Wyatt Marentette and Brennan Caldwell all had strong performances as well.  The Chiefs (4-2 Overall, 4-1 Huron League) will be on the road in Week 7 to face the Falcons of Monroe St. Mary’s Catholic Central.  The game is on Friday, October 7 at 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

Win: 48.00 - 6.00
  The Huron Chiefs traveled to Carleton Airport on Friday, September 23 to take on the Division 4 9th ranked undefeated Jets.  Huron started the scoring as Gavin Moczydlowsky connected with Micah Smith for 59 yards and a TD.  Moczydlowsky ran in the 2 point conversion giving the Chiefs an 8-0 lead.  Airport answered back on the next drive, but they failed on the 2 point attempt making the score 8-6.  Huron struck next on a 45 yard rushing TD by Moczydlowsky.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT to make it a 15-6 score.  The Chiefs defense started to click at this point, and they were giving the Jets fits.  Airport fumbled on the next drive, and it was recovered by Christian Copley.  Huron was able to capitalize on another strong drive capped off by another rushing touchdown from Moczydlowsky.  Gill kicked the PAT making it 22-6.  On the Jets next drive, Josh Buettner stripped the ball from the quarterback, and he took it 51 yards to the house for another Chiefs touchdown.  This made the score 28-6 at halftime.  The Chiefs defense came out strong again in the 2nd half and caused another fumble that was recovered by Brennan Caldwell.  Huron was able to capitalize yet again as Moczydlowsky connected with Micah Smith for 16 yards and another touchdown.  Gill kicked the PAT making it 35-6.  On Airports next drive, they were pressing under the pressure of the Chiefs defense, and Marco Tylutki was able to intercept a pass giving the Chiefs great field position.  This time Moczydlowski found Rory Callahan on a 32 yard touchdown strike.  Callahan made an exceptional one handed catch and manhandled the defender and he crossed the goal line.  This made the score 41-6 in favor of the Chiefs.  On Airport’s next drive, they coughed up the ball again, and this time it was Ethan Woolery with the fumble recovery.  Huron scored one more time on the evening on a 27 yard rushing touchdown from Christian Copley.  Gill kicked the PAT making it 48-6.  Despite all of the scoring and exciting offensive play, it was the defense that really shined on Friday night.  The energy was incredible, as they provided 9 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 strip and score and an interception.  Airport’s offense never seemed to get comfortable.  Offensively, Moczydlowski finished the game 8-11 for 190 yards and 3 passing touchdowns.  He also rushed for 61 yards and had 2 rushing touchdowns.  Rory Callahan had 5 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.  Micah Smith had 2 receptions for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns and 63 yards rushing.  Christian Copley had 51 rushing yards and a touchdown.  Chad Martin also had a reception.  Defensively, Josh Buettner had 3 sacks and a 51 yard strip and score.  Marco Tylutki had 5 tackles and an interception.  Ethan Woolery had 3 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.  Brennan Caldwell had 5 tackles, 2 sacks, a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery.  Rory Callahan had multiple tackles and a sack.  Jesse Brown had a sack.  Micah Smith, Ryan Anderson, Ashton Warren and Sammy Farrugia all had tackles as well.  Farrugia had several pass breakups as well.  The Chiefs (3-2 Overall, 3-1 Huron League) will look to keep their momentum heading into a Week 6 showdown against Grosse Ile for Homecoming.  The game will be held on Friday, September 30 at Arrowhead Stadium at 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

Win: 54.00 - 16.00
  The Varsity Huron Chiefs hosted the Monroe Jefferson Bears on Friday, and they dominated the game, winning by a score of 54-16.  Monroe Jefferson opened the scoring on a long interception return and 2 point conversion that put them up 0-8.  Huron answered back quickly, as Gavin Moczydlowsky connected with Chad Martin for 46 yards and a touchdown.  The Chiefs failed on their 2 point conversion attempt making it 6-8.  Huron forced the Bears to punt, and on their 1st play from scrimmage on the next drive, Sammy Farrugia ran for 47 yards and a touchdown.  Farrugia had a total of 76 rushing yards on 4 carries.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT to put the Chiefs up 13-8.  On the Bears next drive, Micah Smith intercepted a pass and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT giving Huron a 20-8 lead.  The Chiefs forced another punt, and Micah Smith capped off another strong drive with a 10 yard rushing touchdown.  Smith had 6 carries for 41 yards on the night.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT giving Huron a 27-8 lead.  In the final seconds of the 1st half of the game, Gavin Moczydlowsky connected with Ethan Woolery for 55 yards and a touchdown.  The PAT was blocked, and the Chiefs carried a 33-8 lead into the half.  On the opening drive of the 2nd half, the Bears fumbled, and it was recovered by Ashton Warren.  Huron took advantage, and Christian Copley scored on a 21 yard touchdown run.  Copley had 74 rushing yards on 7 carries overall.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT and gave the Chiefs a dominant 40-8 lead.  The Bears answered back with a touchdown of their own and a 2 point conversion attempt making the score 40-16.  After a botched onside kick attempt giving the Chiefs a short field, they took advantage as Gavin Moczydlowsky scored on a 19 yard rushing touchdown.  Moczydlowsky had 82 yards on 5 carries.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT putting the Chiefs up by a score of 47-16.  After forcing yet another punt, the Chiefs scored once again as Xavier Elliott scored on a 4 yard touchdown run.  Elliott had 14 rushing yards on the evening.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT to put the lead at 54-16.  The defense shined all night, as the Chiefs had 12 tackles for a loss.  Jesse Brown contributed 5 of these and gave his strongest performance of the year.  Josh Buettner also had a strong performance with 3 TFL and a sack.  Other players with TFL were Jayden Rogan, A.J. Floyd, Wyatt Marentette and Xavier Elliott.  Rory Callahan and Micah Smith also provided several tackles and each had a sack.  The Chiefs (2-2, 2-1 Huron League) will travel to Airport for a Week 5 showdown against the Jets.  The game is on Friday, September 23 at 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

Lose: 7.00 - 33.00
  The Varsity Chiefs traveled to Riverview Friday night to take on the Pirates.  Huron came out of the gate strong, but ultimately lost by a score of 33-7.  Huron’s lone touchdown was scored by Gavin Moczydlowsky in the first quarter.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT.  Moczydlowsky finished 15 of 28 for 145 yards.  He also had 17 rushing yards and a touchdown.  Micah Smith, Christian Copley, Sammy Farrugia and Xavier Elliott also contributed in the run game.  Micah Smith had 2 receptions for 22 yards, and he also had a completion for 24 yards.  Ethan Woolery had 7 receptions for 77 yards.  Sammy Farrugia had 4 receptions for 44 yards.  Christian Copley had one reception for 11 yards.  Rory Callahan had 2 receptions for 15 yards.  Defensively, the team was led in tackles by Micah Smith and Ashton Warren.  Warren also had a fumble recovery.  Marco Tylutki had 3 tackles and an interception.  Josh Buettner, Wyatt Marentette, Jesse Brown, Rory Callahan, Christian Copley, Chad Martin, Gavin Moczydlowsky and Brennan Caldwell all provided tackles as well.  The Chiefs will welcome the Monroe Jefferson Bears to Arrowhead Stadium on Friday, September 16.  Game time is 7pm.  It is military appreciation night, so all veterans and active duty will get in free of charge.  Go Chiefs!
Boys Varsity Football vs. Milan High School

Win: 13.00 - 12.00
The Varsity Chiefs hosted the Milan Big Reds Week 2, and they won in an exciting fashion by a score of 13-12.  Huron got on the board first when Gavin Moczydlowsky connected with Ethan Woolery for 18 yards and a touchdown.  Anthony Gill kicked the PAT to make the score 7-0.  Milan struck back in the 2nd half scoring a touchdown, but the PAT attempt was blocked by Ashton Warren which became a very significant play in the contest.  Milan scored another touchdown and attempted a 2 point conversion, but a strong effort by the Huron defense stymied their attempt.  The Chiefs had the ball with around 9 minutes left in the game, but were forced to punt, yet their spirits never waivered.  After 2 stuffed run attempts, Milan tried to pass the ball on 3rd down, but it was picked off by Marco Tylutki who returned it to give Huron a very short field with roughly 4 minutes left in the game.  The offense dug deep and imposed their will on the Milan defense.  Great blocking from the offensive line and fullback helped Gavin Moczydlowsky rush his way to the game winning touchdown with around 2 minutes left in regulation.  After a failed 2 point conversion, the Chiefs led 13-12.  The defense held strong with tremendous pressure and great coverage.  Micah Smith intercepted a pass as time was expiring to cap off the comeback win.  Ryan Anderson (1 interception), Joshua Buettner, Wyatt Marentette, Rory Callahan and Sammy Farrugia helped contribute to the aforementioned names with a great defensive performance.  Gavin Moczydlowsky had 4 completions for 136 yards and a touchdown.  Ethan Woolery had 2 receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Rory Callahan had a 40 yard reception, and Ryan Anderson had a 45 yard reception.  Moczydlowsky led the team in rushing with 98 yards and a touchdown.  Micah Smith, Ryan Anderson and Xavier Elliott also provided help in the run game.  The Chiefs (1-1 Overall; 1-0 Huron League) will look to keep their momentum during Week 3 against the Riverview Pirates.  The game is on Friday, September 9 at Riverview High School at 7pm.  Go Chiefs!

First and foremost, I apologize for the delay in these summaries.  I was unable to access my account until this week.  The Varsity Huron Chiefs hosted Milford for the season opener on August 25.  It was a very physical football game, and Milford was able to capitalize on some mistakes to pull off the victory, winning 28-7.  The Huron defense was put in difficult situations all night, yet they played hard, and they kept the game from getting out of hand.  Micah Smith led the team in tackles with 10 and also had a QB sack.  Wyatt Marentette had 7 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Rory Callahan had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a QB sack.  Jesse Brown recorded 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Christian Copley, Sammy Farrugia, Ethan Woolery, Ashton Warren, Brennan Caldwell, Marco Tylutki, Gavin Moczydlowsky, Xavier Elliott, Josh Buettner and Aidan Witt also contributed in the tackling department.  It was a rough night offensively, but there were some highlights.  Christian Copley completed 6 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.  Gavin Moczydlowsky completed 7 passes for 56 yards.  Rory Callahan had 3 receptions for 51 yards.  Ethan Woolery had 2 receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.  Sammy Farrugia had 4 receptions for 43 yards.  Micah Smith and Marco Tylutki each recorded one reception as well.  Gavin Moczydlowsky had 12 carries for 65 yards to lead the team in rushing.
