• Late Score Costs Huron Chiefs Varsity Against Airport
• Huron Chiefs Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Airport pulled away late in a 3-2 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with Airport batting in the bottom of the sixth when Gracie Brinkerhoff's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Airport.
• The pitching was strong on both sides. Airport pitchers struck out eight, while Huron Chiefs Varsity sat down six.
• McKenzie Cleland took the win for Airport. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out eight.
• Brinkerhoff took the loss for Huron Chiefs Varsity. She allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one.
• Erin Bressler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Huron Chiefs Varsity in hits.
• Alyssa Hanning led Airport with two hits in three at bats.

It was a well played game by both teams. A game where both pitchers went toe to toe. We were down early and struggling to get much going. The top of the 6th inning, Polites walked and reached second by a sac bunt by Chloe Bowers. Polites was moved to third on a pass ball. Campbell put the ball in play but back to the pitcher, which lead to out number two. Faith Callahan took to the plate, and was able to draw the second walk of the inning. With runners at 1st and 3rd Bressler was up to bat. She has been hitting so well and I was sure she would put something in play to score one. She smashed the ball and put it off the top of the fence, plating both runners. The game was tied and going into the bottom half of the inning we gave up a lead off triple. Who eventually scored on a pass ball. We couldn't get a run the next inning and ended up taking the loss. It was a bit frustrating, because I think we gave up a couple at bats and some defensive plays we should have made. But Airport is a very good team, state ranked, and we played toe to toe with them. That is what you hope to do everyday and I think we will start turning these close games into wins very soon.
