BATS OVERCOME FIELDING WOES... The Chiefs had to overcome 6 errors by the defense.  Keaton Diserens started and only gave up 2 earned runs and struck out 3. Brad Hughes took over and struck out 6 while giving up 3 earned runs and Noah Banas shut Riverview down in the 7th inning striking out 1 Pirate... PITCHING AND DEFENSE LEAD TO SWEEP OF AIRPORT.... For the 1st time in recent memory Huron swept the season series 2-0 from Airport. The Chiefs played their best defensive game of the year making critical plays when needed . Dayton Miller started and went 5 innings striking out 7 and allowing only 2 runs and did not factor in the decision. Brad Hughes came in did not allow a hit for 2 innings to pick up the win. The Chiefs got on the board in the 1st inning with a Noah Banas walk he preceded to steal second base moved to third base on a Hughes fly ball and the Miller doubled him home for the 1-0 lead. With 2 outs Nick Suemnick hit rocket to right and Miller was thrown out at the plate on a great throw. In the bottom of the forth Suemnick was hit by a pitch the an infield single by Brody Curly put runners on 1st and 2nd for Tyler Logdon. Logsdon laid down a sacrifice bunt that turned into an infield single that scored Suemnick on an error by the Jets. Huron could have tacked on f few more but back to back strike outs slowed the rally and a line driver to 2nd base ended the inning. Airport tied the score at 2 with 2 runs in the top of the 5th innning but in the bottom of the 6th inning the Chiefs pushed across the winning run. Curly reached on an error and was replaced with a pinch runner who stole second base but then was picked off for the 1st out . Logsdon walked on a 3-2 pitch and Shawn Folkwein also walked after a Banas fly to center Hughes singled to score Logsdon with the go ahead run. Huron improved to 9-5 on the season and still undefeated in the Huron league      

MILLER HOMERS IN WIN With the Chiefs self destructing and needing a boost Dayton Miller stepped to the plate with Huron down a run in the top of the 5th. After brad Hughes was hit by a pitch Miller who tripled earlier in the game launched a 2 run homer to left field to spark the Chiefs  to a 12- 5 win over SMCC.  Huron pitchers Miller , Hughes , Banas  and Grey gave up ZERO earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 11. Nick Suemnick and Brody Curly added 2 hits in the win.

MISCUES LEAD TO 7-5 LOSS TO THE GRIFFINS Chief pitchers Brad Hughes , Tyler Phillips and Tyler Grey  only gave up 7 hits in 9 innings ,struck out 8 and only gave up 2 earned runs in a 7-5 loss to Taylor. Four Huron errors lead to 5 unearned runs in the loss. Brad Hughes , Noah Banas , Dayton Miller and Aiden Sainato led the attack with 2 hits each while Nick Suemnick drove in 2 runs with a double.

DISERENS NO HITS DC IN 1-0 WIN... Keaton Diserens strikes out 5 and walks none in the shortened game due to field conditions. Dayton Miller scored the only run of the game with a perfectly executed hit run by Nick ( BIG PAPI) Suemnick.  

BANAS DOMINATES ON MOUND IN 9-3 WIN...... Noah Banas pitched 5 shutout innings giving up 5 hits and striking out 7 for his 1st win in high school over Riverview. The game was tied going into the 3rd inning when Dayton Miller doubled down the left field line  and on the next pitch stole 3rd and with 1 one out Tyler Phillips executed the perfect suicide squeeze  bunt to score Miller to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Huron broke the game wide open when they scored 8 times in the 5th inning with RBI's by Aiden Sainato (2) , Brad Hughes (2) Banas (1) , Miller (1), Curly (1) and Matsos (1). The Chiefs remain undefeated in league play.  

BATS COME ALIVE LATE TO PULL OUT WIN.... Huron early and late to pull out the win 7-5. The Chiefs scored 2 first inning runs and 5 in the final inning to pull out the win. Nick Suemick's 2 hits and 3 RBI's lead the Chiefs in game 1. Tyler Phillips has  huge 2 run double in the 6th inning to push Huron ahead all started by a Jack Fisher leadoff  walk in the 5th inning. Keaton Diserens struggled with control walking six but ha great stuff striking out 6 in 3.1 innings. Brody Curly shut down Livonia to snipe the win and Bradley Hughes struck out the final batter for the save

BATS GO SILENT IN GAME 2 OF DH..... Brody Curly and Tyler Phillips pitched well each only giving up 1 earned run. Phillips struck out 6 and Curly 3. Noah Banas, Tyler Philips and Tyler Grey each had 1 hit for the Chiefs.

GRAY THROWS 4 HIT COMPLETE GAME... Tyler Gray struck out 9 and allowed 1 earned run in the complete game win. Noah Banas had 3 hits and drove in 3 to pace the attack. It was Grey's 1st HS win

CHIEFS WIN THRILLER OVER JETS... Huron overcome fielding woes to defeat the Jets 7-5. The Chiefs got it started in the 1st with a line drive single by Aiden Sainato ( 1 of 3 hits on the day ) and a HBP on Josh Hubbard. Brad Hughes did his job and advanced the runners with a deep fly to right field. Dayton Miller walked loading the bases. Nick Suemnick then lined a single to left for 1 of his 4 RBI's on the day scoring Sainato. Noah Banas walked to drive in Hurons 2nd run of the inning and Tyler Phillips drives in Miller with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 after 1. The Chiefs scored 2 more in the 2nd with 2 outs to make it 5-0. The key play of the game was Nate Matsos unleashed a throw from center field to throw out an Airport runner trying to advance to 3rd to slow down a Jets rally. Miller started for the Chiefs vialing for his 3rd win of the year pitched 3.2 innings giving up 3 earned runs while walking 5 and striking out 5. Hughes came in and on 1 pitch ended the Jets rally in the 4th. Hughes picked up the win when Huron score 2 runs in the top of the 7th to seal the win.  Hughes pitched 3.1 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 walks and 1 strike out for his 2nd win of the season The Chiefs imrpoved to 4-4 and 2-0 in the Huron league

BRAD HUGHES STRIKES OUT 9 IN WIN... Huron improved to 3-1 ( 2-0 in league play) with their 7-6 thrilling in over SMCC. Huges started gave up 2 earned runs while striking out 9 in 5.2 innings. The Chiefs jumped out to an early 2 run lead when Aiden Sainato and Hughes on Nick Suemnick's hard ground to short that could not be fielded cleanly. SMCC shipped away with single runs in the 2nd , 3rd and 4th innings to take a 3-2 lead only to have the Chiefs tie it with a run in the bottom of the 4th. Suemnick reached on another SMCC error and score on Nate Mastos ground ball to 2nd.  SMCC took the lead again in the top of the 5th on some sloppy defense by Huron by scoring 2 runs but again the Chiefs fought back to tie the score with 2 of their own in the bottom of the 5th. Shaun Folkwein started the rally by inducing a walk and went to 3rd on Dayton Millers sharp single to center. Taking no chances with Suemnick they walk him to load the bases for Tyler Phillips. Philips gets a single to score the 2nd run of the inning to tie the score at 5. After 2 out in the 6th Hughes starts the rally with an infield single Miller follows with a single to put runners on 1st and 2nd . They both steal bases and then Hughes scores on a wild pitch to give Huron a 6-5 lead. Miller scores on the errant throw to 3rd for a 2 run lead. SMCC would not go away quietly scoring 1 in the top of the 7th but Miller closed the game out for the save .  

CHIEFS DEFEAT RAMS 11-5.... Dayton Miller (2-0) started and struck out seven of the nine Flat Rock batters he faced. Tyler Grey stuck out 5 while giving up 1 earned run in 3 innings. Nick Suemnick 3 hits and 2 RBI's , Tyler Phillips 2 hits and 2 RBI's , Aiden Sainato 2 hits and 2 runs scored ,Brad Hughes 2 hits 3 runs scored and Miller 2 hits  3 RBI's and 2 runs scored paced the Chiefs hitting attack. 

WALKS & ERRORS KEY TO LOSS..... Huron's D was an issue as we committed 3 errors leading to 4 unearned runs in the 7-3 loss . Dayton Miller stuck out 3 in 2 innings of work. Keaton Diserens worked 2 innings battling control issues walking 3 but striking out 2 with out giving up a hit. Noah Banas pitched 2 perfect innings striking out 1. Tyler Grey pitched well but took the loss. Brad Hughes led the Chiefs in hitting with 2 hits and 2 stolen bases. Aiden Sainato, Jack Fisher and Hubbard each had an RBI in the loss.

PITCHING DOMINATES IN WIN.... Brad Hughes started and picked up the win in the 10-0 win over Belleville. Hughes struck out 8 and walked one for his 1st win of the season. Dayton Miller pitched 2 innings did not give up a hit and struck out 5 . Nick Suemnick led the hitting with 2 hits and 3 RBI's. Aiden Sainato also had 2 hits  and 2 runs scored.
