This was a crazy back and forth physical match that saw the undefeated Chiefs being taxed and taxed. Trenton scored first and led for a bit up 1-0 but before the end of the first half senior Melissa Mentzer got taken down in the box. Rylie Cassette scored the equalizer from the spot and sent the game into half 1-1. After an hour of lighting delays the two teams came back and got back to business finishing full time still even 1-1. Two 10 minute overtimes were played and still even 1-1. Good ole pk's from the spot to decide this one and Trenton came out on top winning the district and handing the Chiefs their first loss of the year.

Huron shutout another team making it 14 shutouts in 17 unbeaten games. Brooke Burke is credited with 13 of the 14 shutouts. Tonight the Chiefs battled Huron league foe, Riverview, and had a tough go round. Huron was up 1-0 at half after sophomore Avery Turk assisted friend, sophomore Ava Banko who went side netting. This was the 3rd meeting between these two teams which Huron won all 3 but knew this would be the hardest. In the 2nd half Banko assisted Shay Carpenter who scored one of her best on the season. Sophomore Maggie Mentzer Senior captain Maggie Warden and Junior centerback, Addison Dolencic, controlled the middle of the pitch and gave the Pirates very few looks. District final is set for 5/28 between the #1 seed, Chiefs and the host Trenton Trojans.

Huron Chiefs are Huron League Champs and shutout all the teams in the Round Robin Tournament. 13 goals for 0 against in the tournament to be able to hold the Huron League Trophy. Junior Gabby Emelian assisted junior Rylie Cassette early on followed by the sophomore’s goal Ava Banko to Maggie Mentzer. Goal 3 came from Gabby Emelian solo but only after Shay Carpenter almost pounded one home which the Grosse Ile keeper saved. Sophomore Brooklyn Burke earned her 11th shutout with one really big back post diving save and another at the crossbar. Junior Addison Dolencic controlled the back once again and supported sophomore Nhi Vo who was standing in for Senior Captain Lily Cholette.

Maggie mentzer 1 goal
Rylie Cassette 1 goal

It was an extremely slow start for the Chiefs as they only scored 1 goal in the 1st half against the visiting Warriors. Shay Carpenter sliced a ball to Rylie Cassette who neatly turned and took a defender on a run as she tucked the ball lower corner. Not much more happened until the big game of tag at halftime that saw Maddison Wilson almost single handedly energizing the whole team. 2nd half scoring picked up when Gabby Emelian turned on the boosters and went to town scoring 3 goals in 19 minutes. A couple of crafty finishes and a beautiful header saw Emelian toying with the opposition. Huron’s 23-minute goal scoring spree came to an end when Avery Turk went upper back corner with her left to put the 5-0 game out of reach. Brooklyn Burke was credited with her 9th shut out on the season and looks to be tied for school record of shut outs on a season.
Gabby Emelian 3 goals
Rylie Cassette 1 goal 2 assists
Sahylyn Carpenter 2 assists
Avery Turk 1 goal

Chiefs increase to 12-0-2 after a well-played game in Riverview. Addison Dolencic continues to set the tone for securing shut-outs, with her tough, no nonsense, your not shooting on our goalie line of defense. Defense doesn’t always get huge credits but with Dolencic, Callie Eaton, Nhi Vo and captain Lily Cholette this defense is on top of the world stopping attacks and starting Huron’s transitions. Add in a midfield run by captain Maggie Warden and controlled by two sophomores Maggie Mentzer and Ava Banko and 5 goal games start to be the norm. Tonight Warden assisted Miley Skamiera for goal number 1 and Gabby Emelian played a back post ball to Avery Turk who scored a beaut. Skamiera followed by ringing the upper corner on what would have been the goal of the year. Second half action saw Skamiera add her 2nd of the night from Banko just before Banko assisted Shay Carpenter. Huron’s 5th goal was from Maggie Mentzer who nearly ripped a hole in the net after Ava Banko assisted yet again. Brooklyn Burke recorded her 10th shut out and possibly school record with this 5-0 win
Wednesday night’s game is for the Huron League and is also the “white out” so come out and see if this amazing team can stay undefeated and win the Huron League.
Miley Skamiera 2 goals
Avery Turk 1 goal

First leg of the round robin tournament is in the books. State ranked Milan came over to Arrowhead’s turf and found out that the state ranked Chiefs are no joke. Ava Banko, Maggie Mentzer and Maggie Warden set the tone for who was going to control the middle and defended then attacked faster than their opponents. Rylie Cassette, who was at another level mentally, made decisive runs and got to goal to create absolute havoc on the defense and assisted Shaylyn Carpenter for goal 1. Goal 2 also came from Cassette when Gabby Emelian sliced through and pocketed a rocket of an untouchable shot. Goal 3 saw Callie Eaton caress a nice free kick into the box and Melissa Mentzer timed it perfectly and headed it past the oncoming keeper. While the game was being controlled by the Chiefs, Captain Lily Cholette and Addison Dolencic were putting some combinations together that had everyone oohhhing and aahhhing. Avery Turk had a beautiful assist to Cassette who scored goal 4 and Shaylyn Carpenter rounded out the assists when she passed to Cassette who pocketed another. On the flip side Milan was awarded a penalty kick and hammered it home for their lone goal of the night. Brooklyn Burke easily handled everything else that came her way and nearly assisted from one of her punts. Chiefs extended their record to 10-0-2 and are one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the state 12 games in, WOW!
Rylier Cassette 2 goals 2 assists

Huron’s undefeated Chiefs 9-0-2 battled at home against D1 Belleville Tigers 11-1-2 in what turned out to be a strong physical 80 minute battle. Belleville took advantage of an opportunity in side of the 1st minute that kept the Chiefs playing catch up most of the game. Back and forth action was the theme for most of the 1st half with the Chiefs controlling possession and having a goal called back. 2nd half action saw the Tigers slowing from all the ball movement by the Chiefs; however, the Chiefs were not able to capitalize on any of their nearly a dozen shots. Huron’s underclasswomen made a huge showing. At any point in the game there were 6 underclasswomen of the 11 playing at the same time. Sophomore goalkeeper Brooklyn Burke (up for Monroe County Player of the week again with 8 consecutive shutouts *please vote*), sophomore defensewoman Nhi Vo, sophomore ball handler Ava Banko, sophomore play maker Maggie Mentzer, freshmen crafty attacker Miley Skamiera, and sophomore attacking specialist Avery Turk. It was Turk who eventually evened the score with a beautiful volley, net in the air, from an Ava Banko pass. The Chiefs continued pushing hard for the win with some amazing near misses by Gabby Emelian, Rylie Cassette, Kendyl Sikorski, Melissa Mentzer and Maggie Warden. In the end the game finished with the tie and a lot of unsatisfied Chief players who knew the game was theirs’ for the taking. Nevertheless, the Chiefs maintained their undefeated season with much credit going to their backline junior Callie Eaton, Senior captain Lily Cholette and all-star junior defender Addison Dolencic.
Avery Turk 1 goal
Ava Banko 1 assist
Through 10 games the Chiefs have been consistently unbeaten, racking up scores and shut outs. This 21 person Varsity team is exciting to watch and enjoyable to see move the ball around the pitch. All 21 girls are imperative to the success of the team, whether it be the competitiveness in practices, the sisterhood, or the drive to make each other better on the pitch, these girls have something that sets them apart from all the rest. Sure they won again 5-0 but this group was more eager to aide in Junior Sarah Stewart's promposal than they were to hang around and bask in the win. They love the sport but they love each other too.
(quick side note Brooklyn Burke was credited with her 8th consecutive shutout)
Mikey Skamiera assisted Rylie Cassette
Melissa Mentzer assisted Addison Bozynski
Danica Lividini assisted Ava Plackowski
Miley Skamiera assisted Maggie Mentzer
Ava Banko assisted Gabby Emelian
Crazy night filled with thunderstorms, lots of rain, a lightning delay and an intermission drum show. The Chiefs stayed undefeated on the season as they won 2-0. A beautiful pass from Maggie Mentzer to Gabby Emelian to Rylie Cassette for goal 1. The Chiefs were on the attack the whole night but with wet conditions finishing was a bit off. Huron was able to score again when Captain Maggie Warden placed the perfect direct free kick, from about 40 yards back, right in front of the Milan goalie that Cassette banged home for her 2nd of the night. Addison Dolencic, Captain Lily Cholette, Callie Eaton, and Nhi Vo held Milan to barely any attack as they aided in Brooklyn Burke's 7th start and 7th shutout (vote for her as Monroe Athlete of the Week). Maggie Mentzer and Ava Banko, both sophomores and small in stature, played like top level women, as the home team chased them around trying to figure out how to slow them down.
Rylie Cassette 2 goals
Maggie Warden 1 assist
Gabby Emelian 1 assist
What? Early dismissal, drive all the way out to Ann Arbor in traffic, score 8 goals against a strong Father Gabriel Richard team, load back onto the bus and make it home for supper? Absolutely! Brooke Burke had her 6th shutout. Junior Addison Dolencic and senior captain Maggie Warden had another dominating defensive game while sophomores Ava Banko and Maggie Mentzer continued their controlling the game and distributing style to completely pick apart the host team. One player took part in every single goal assisting 2 and scoring 6. Rylie Cassette was exciting to watch as she out paced, out worked and out maneuvered anyone who was trying to stop her. Cassette was just coming off of winning Monroe County’s Player of the Week, last week. Myley Skamiera had 2 assists, Banko, Melissa Mentzer and Warden each added 1 assist. Maggie Mentzer and Shay Carpenter each scored some rockets of their own. Riley Humeniak secured the clean slate in goal as the Chiefs, up 6-0 at half, returned for 2nd half action and closed the game out with the final 2.

21 different players rocked the turf as the Chiefs stayed undefeated on the season 7 games in. Rylie Cassette assisted Shay Carpenter immediately followed by Gabby Emelian’s assist to Cassette. Cassette had another from Ava Banko then Maggie Mentzer lit up the upper corner. 4 goals in and only minutes off of the clock and it was time to make the 1st ever full team sub. 10 players lined up at the half-line and substituted every player off of the field and then went to work scoring 7 more. Sarah Stewart, Nhi Vo and Riley Humeniak rocked it in the back line with Humeniak nearly scoring several. Addison Bozynski, playing in the midfield, added 2 goals and an assist to her resume. Also in midfield, Melissa Mentzer scored 1, Madison Wilson scored 2 and Ava Plackowski added 2 assists. Kendyl Sikorski had a 2 goal 1 assist night while both Avery Turk and Danica Lividini had near misses. Sophomore Brooklyn Burke in her 5th game at the varsity level added her 5th shutout and has super cool glasses. The Chiefs were super excited with the Bears willingness to stay engaged the whole time and wish them much success in the future. Huron is back in action tomorrow night at Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard, probably GoFan, GoFigure

New Boston Huron played at home in a Huron League match against Riverview. Shay Carpenter started the scoring off when she assisted Rylie Cassette on the first goal. Maggie Warden laced up a direct free kick from the left side and went far side netting to end the game 2-0. Sophomore Brooklyn Burke, in only her 4th game, added her 4th consecutive shutout. Junior Addison Dolencic showed her strength again as a center back as she iced the forwards and allowed nothing near her goal. This was a crazy back and forth game that didn't showcase the true Chief's style. Unfortunately for all potential opponents, this group of girls can get it done with grit as well. When the technique is off the physical game is still on. What a tough bunch of girls.
Huron's undefeated season continued as the Chiefs went 4-0 over Divine Child. Ava Banko went solo again from distance on a direct free kick for goal 1. Gabby Emelian had a 2nd consecutive hat trick with assists going to Rylie Cassette and Maggie Warden. Brooke Burke made some amazing saves to record her 3rd shutout. Addison Dolencic, Lily Cholette, Cali Eaton and Nhi Vo were superb in defending while the 2 sophomores Ava Banko and Maggie Mentzer controlled the whole middle. Miley Skamiera, Shay Carpenter, Melissa Mentzer and Avery Turk were constant pressure and kept the opposing team scratching their heads because they had no answers.
Nine different players had points in a 10-0 win on Gabby Emelian’s birthday. Gabby had 3 goals with fellow forward, Rylie Cassette, adding 2 and an assist. Miley Skamiera notched a goal and an assist as well as Ava Banko a goal and an assist. Addison Bozynski, Avery Turk and newcomer Madison Wilson (1st ever varsity game) each had 1 goal while Danica Lividini had 2 assists. Brooke Burke handled her 2nd shutout in as many games and gave credit to her amazing backline, Addison Dolencic, captain Lily Cholette, Callie Eaton, Nhi Vo and in her 1st ever varsity game, Sarah Stewart. Captain Maggie Warden also controlled the backline and aided in the midfield and a bit of everywhere as she was seen defending, play making and shooting. Sophomore skill master, Maggie Mentzer, controlled the game from one side to the other distributing and keeping a nice variety of attacks. Older cousin Melissa Mentzer along with Shaylyn Carpenter had some great looks at goal and gave the opposing defense more than they had bargained for. 3 players were out of town competing with HOSA but were missed deeply, Kendyl Sikorski, Riley Humeniak and Ava Plackowski. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GABBY!!!!!!
3-0-1 BABY DOLL
Sophomore Brooke Burke recorded her first ever varsity shutout as the Chiefs played the Rams on the Ram’s new amazing field. On a night that allowed for many substitutions, the lady Chiefs attacked and attacked trying to work on possession and how to break down the defense. Rylie Cassette, who was already nominated for Monroe Newspaper Athlete of the week for scoring a hat trick in a previous game, did it again. Cassette’s three goals were assisted by Gabby Emelian, another by Miley Skamiera and the last by Ava Banko. Melissa Mentzer was credited with the 4th goal unassisted. Junior Addison Dolencic and senior captain Maggie Warden controlled the middle of the pitch to help dominate the whole time.
Two more games this week finishes out the packed week, SMCC on Wednesday and Divine Child on Friday
Huron League Soccer began tonight with the Chiefs battling Grosse Ile. 2 minutes into the match the Chiefs found themselves giving up their 1st goal of the season. Ten minutes later Rylie Cassette found Miley Skamiera to tie up the game. Huron was pressuring for a bit and struck the crossbar and tried to handle possession, but the thick grass was definitely a bigger problem than was the adversary. Halftime score was knotted at 1-1 but the Chiefs vowed to outplay the competition in the 2nd. One minute into the 2nd half, Gabby Emelian was credited with her 3rd of the season and the Chiefs kept attacking. Another goal from Maggie Mentzer assisted from Cassette put the Chiefs up 3-1 and well on their way to certain victory. Grosse Ile did not give up and scored bringing the game to 3-2. Senior captain Maggie Warden made sure everything stayed away from her goal and hoped her Chief attackers would score one of their many corner kicks to put the game back out of reach. Unfortunately with 30 seconds left Grosse Ile was awarded a corner kick and pulled their goalie, took the kick and scored on the play leaving the Chiefs in disbelief and a tie instead of the win.
Rylie Cassette: 2 assists
Miley Skamiera: 1 goal
Gabby Emelian : 1 goal
Maggie Mentzer: 1 goal
0n Friday April 5th our lady Chiefs traveled to Allen Park on a windy 42 degree night and decided to play into gusting winds that really slowed them down. Passes had to have extra weight and runs were slowed, not allowing the girls to get to their full potential. After 37 minutes and 9 goals the Chiefs had done enough and turned off the goal scoring and settled for the early night off. Freshmen Miley Skamiera started the 24’ season off with the 1st goal of the season from her cousin Shaylyn Carpenter. Miley ended up with 2 goals and 2 assists while returning lead goal scorer Rylie Cassette netted 3 goals. Other powerhouse goals scorers, Gabby Emelian and Maggie Mentzer added 2 goals each. Shay Carpenter had 2 assists along with Ava Banko 1 assist.
