The girls varsity volleyball team took first place in the silver bracket for this years News Hearld Tournament this weekend.  The day started a little slow with a loss against Edsel Ford and then Garden City followed by a win against Lincoln Park in the last game of pool play.   The girls faced a few challenging coming into the tournament with an injury for one player and then having another player come down on her ankle in the second game.  The girls headed into bracket play with three straight wins against Melvindale, Summit and then Taylor in the finals. The girls truly did well playing out of system in many  different positions.  Status highlights: Ellen Town with 10 aces and 57 digs, Quinn Drysdale with 53 assists and 18 digs, Gabby Cumbo with 28 kills and 25 assists, Miranda Jasinksi with 24 kills and 25 digs, and Maddy Dulecki with 14 aces and 14 kills.  The girls have their last tournament in Bedford on October 29th.
