Cody Brenner brought home a championship at 189 pounds.
Brenner’s toughest match came in the quarterfinals. He needed a takedown in the final seconds to nip Derek Mohr of Lowell 3-1.
He rolled to a 6-3 win in the semis then handled Vincent Scaramuzzino of Croswell-Lexington 4-0 in the finals.
“He pretty much controlled every phase of that match,” Huron coach Jake Shulaw said. “He probably rode him three and a half minutes. It was great. He lost to that kid earlier this year.”
Huron also had a runner-up finish from Kael Wisler. He was very impressive for the Chiefs, reaching the finals with a technical fall, a 6-0 decision and a pin of Mason’s Derek Badgley in the semifinals.
He fell just short in the finals, falling 7-5 to Jacob Lee of Lowell.
Kameron Buettner placed fifth at 215 with a 3-2 record for the day. After falling in the semi-finals he came back and took 5th place with a pin in his final match.
