The goal was assisted by Keely Bennett and scored by Avery Turk. Halftime came around and the Chiefs had some time to reflect on the 1st half. A whole four minutes later Ava Banko had another goal. 2 minutes after that Ava Banko assisted Avery Turk. Ava Banko, Sloane Moutos, Sophia Plooy, Cora Slovik, and Sarah Stuart were a very strong back line not letting anything come past them. Nhi Vo, Maggie Mentzer, Savannah Eliott, and Keely Bennett were getting the field wide and cutting up the center. Gabriella Diaz Griddy’d all up and down the sideline while Madison Wilson was the best scorekeeper in history! Shaylyn Carpenter froze in goal but was credited with the shut out and is on the verge of going pro!

Girls Junior Varsity Soccer vs. Divine Child

Win: 7 - 1
Sometimes drawing the line between Varsity and junior varsity is a tough line. This year the Chiefs saw that become reality, which is great for the Chief’s program but not for the Chief’s opponents. Junior varsity, comprised of mostly freshmen, is ready and hungry to take the high school scene by storm. Putting up 7 goals on Divine Child was no small task but when Maggie Mentzer and Nhi Vo started distributing the ball that was exactly what happened. Avery Turk netted 4 goals, 3 of which came from Vo and one from Maddie Wilson. Wilson scored 2, one from Ava Banko and one from Mentzer. Sophia Plooy was nearly awarded the one goal that was considered an own goal when she pressured a Banko corner kick. Brooklyn Burke proved she can get to goal as she beat defenders and helped the offense secure the win. Cora Slovik, Sarah Stewart, Olivia Welch and Sloane Moutos were tough defenders and held the back line strong. Gabriella Diaz, Marissa Anderson and Savannah Elliott controlled the outside mids and were excited to celebrate with their dominating team as the final whistle blew, 7-1. Gratitude was awarded to special appearances in goal by Riley Humeniak and Shaylyn Carpenter.
