Huron Girls Track team finishes second in the League. Anderson League Champ x4

The Huron girls track team was undefeated in the league coming into the final Huron League Championship Meet at Milan on Tuesday. Despite a hard fought battle, the Chiefs couldn't get ahead of the tough Bears team. Scoring a total of 83.2 points, the Huron girls finished 2nd in the league for the 2023 season.
Earning All League Honors were Elizabeth Anderson, Madelyn Barbour, Breeann Roupe, and Avery Turk.
Elizabeth Anderson rounded out her stunning Huron League career by winning the 100/200/400 and running the 4th leg of the first place 4x400 relay.
Madelyn Barbour earned 2nd team All League in the 100m hurdles/300m hurdles and running the first leg in the winning 4x400m relay ending her senior year at Leagues on a high note. She also earned points for the team in the 4x200m relay.
Breeann Roupe and Avery Turk ran the two remaining legs of the 4x400m relay earning themselves the honor of first team all league. They both earned points in the 4x800m relay and Avery earned points in the 800/1600.

As the 2023 track season is winding down, the girls from Huron are literally speeding up. They're setting goals and smashing them and have hit their stride leading up to the biggest races of the year. The girls finished an impressive 5th place in a TOUGH division 2 regional at Chelsea HS. They qualified 4 girls to the MHSAA State finals in 5 events and fourteen personal best/season best times/distances were achieved!
Elizabeth Anderson ran 4 events, WON 4 events to become regional champion x4, AND qualified 4 events to states! She ran the 100 in 12.34 for her season best time, the 200m dash in 24.93 breaking her own school record, the 400m in 56.62 for her season best time, and ran the 4th leg in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:10.06.
Madelyn Barbour finished runner up in the 300m hurdles with a season best time of 48.23 and earned herself a ticket to the state finals! She finished 4th and all region in the 100m hurdles with an impressive and personal best time of 17.05. She also ran the 1st leg in the region winning and state qualifying 4x400m relay.
Avery Turk qualified for her first appearance at States as a freshman running the 3rd leg of the 4x400m relay. She also finished 8th in the 800m run with a personal best time of 2:31.79.
Senior Breeann Roupe rounded out the fierce foursome of the state bound 4x400 running the second leg and her fastest split to date.
These girls and all the girls of the Huron track team have had an incredible season, and it's not over yet. Come watch them run for a league title Tuesday 5/23 at Milan HS and don't miss what will most definitely be record breaking performances at the MHSAA State Finals on 6/3.
Huron Girls Varsity Track are small team Champions at Metro Classic

The girls track team from Huron ran hard on Saturday at the Metro Classic hosted by Woodhaven HS. They earned 58.2 points, numerous medals, 17 season best times, and the title of CHAMPION finishing 1st in the small schools and 4th of 18 teams overall.
Elizabeth Anderson broke the meet record in the 100/400, earned 1st place in the 100/200/400, ran the 4th leg in the 2nd place 4x400, and was voted female track athlete of the meet.
Point earners of the meet:
L. Anderson: 1st in 100/200/400 and 2nd in the 4x400
B. Musallam: 5th in HJ, 6th in the 400 with a PR of 67.02, and 3rd leg of the 4x200m relay
N. Carlile: T for 8th in Pole Vault (6'6)
3200m relay running a PR of 10:55 (F. Doss, B. Roupe, M. Johnston, A. Turk)
M. Barbour: 4th in 100m Hurdles, 5th in 4x100m relay, 5th in 300m hurdles (49.62), and running the 1st leg in the 2nd place 4x400m relay.
A. Turk: 5th in the mile and 3rd leg in the 2nd place 4x400m relay
800m relay: 7th place/1:57.68 (A.Townsend, T. Burns, B. Musallam, and N. Hale)

Girls varsity track team sweeps Huron League quad in RECORD breaking meet tying them for first in the League

The Chiefs swept the Huron League quad on Tuesday winning against Flat Rock (98-30), Grosse Ile (70-58), and edging out Airport (66.67-61.33).
The Chiefs record in the Huron League is 6-0 going into the Huron League meet tying them with Jefferson.
Coming into the last event, the 4x400 relay, the girls knew they had to place high in order to win the meet against Airport. Not only did they win the race, but they smashed their PR and broke a school record last set in 1989. Running a 4:10.02 Maddie Barbour, BreeAnn Roupe, Avery Turk, and Elizabeth Anderson will now hold the new school record in the 4x400m Relay.
Natalie Carlile, junior, is also setting records being the first official pole vaulter for Huron. She achieved her own PR (and school record) clearing 7 feet 6 inches.

The girls varsity track team took first place scoring 81 points at the Huroc relays, hosted by the Chiefs at Arrowhead stadium. Winning by 7 points, the Chiefs were able to collect a trophy for the first time on their home track.

In yet another bitter cold meet the Chiefs froze out the SMCC girls to win another league dual. Scoring 85 to their 43, they collected 10 first place wins, 8 2nd place wins and 3rd place finishes. They swept long jump, high jump, 100m dash, and the 400m dash.

The woman's track team from Huron braved the wet and cold weather and toughed it out at the Warrior Invite on Saturday. They ran hard, battled the elements, and finished 6th out of 15 talented teams. Elizabeth Anderson had another stand out day earning the most points for Huron and taking 1st in the 100/400/200m.

Huron Girls Track WIN against Riverview in home opener

NB Huron Girls Track Team beat Riverview in their first home meet of the season making their record 2-0 in the Huron League. Despite the cold temperatures and punishing wind, the Chiefs toughed it out and scored 76 points to the Pirates 52.

The New Boston Woman's track team traveled to Chelsea on Friday (4/14) to compete in the annual Chelsea Relays.The meet consisted of relay only events and gave the girls an opportunity to preview the 2023 Regional site while competing in their first big meet of the season. The Chiefs scored points in every event they entered, medaled in 4 (top 3 places), earning 15 medals, total of 54 points and 5th Place overall.
Medal Earners for the meet:
Earning 3rd place in long jump were the trio of Jordan Hickey, Selah Stanley, and London Richardson.
Earning 3rd place in the 4x100m freshman/sophomore relay were Olivia Pryor, Hannah Johns, Brielle Musallam, and Addison Townsend.
Earning 2nd place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:19.59 were Madelyn Barbour, Avery Turk, BreeAnn Roupe, and Elizabeth Anderson.
Taking home the gold medals and first place in the Bert Kruse relay (300H-200-600-400) honoring long time coach of 61+ years were Madelyn Barbour (300), Neena Hale (200), Avery Turk (600), and Elizabeth Anderson (400).

The NB Huron Girls Track team started their season with a WIN against Milan for the first time in 10+ years. Taking points in 15 out of 16 events and taking first in 10 of them made the Chiefs too tough to beat in the end.
Top point earners were:
E.Anderson earning first in the 100 (12.13), 200 (25.88), 400 (58.3), and 4th leg of the 4x400m relay (4:19)
M. Barbour earning first in the 100m hurdles (17.46), 300m hurdles (51.56) and 1st leg of the 4x400m relay (4:19)
B. Roupe earning first in the 800m run (2:56), 1st leg of the 4x800m relay (11:34), and 4th leg of the 4x400m relay (11:19)
A. Turk earning first in the 1600m run (5:51), and the 4th leg of the 4x800m relay (11:34)
M. Johnston earned points in the 4x800m relay (11:34), 3rd in the 1600m run (6:44), and 3rd in the 3200m run (14:46)
F. Doss earned points running the 2nd leg of the 4x800m relay (11:34), and earning first in the 3200m run with a sprint to the end (14:14)
