LINCOLN PARK HIGH SCHOOL: 3
Freshman Athletes fought hard at the News Herald Invitational on Friday night. First taking on Lincoln Park with three set victories 25-17, 25-12 and 25-5. Then taking on the returning champs Woodhaven Warriors from last year, the Chiefs were down the first set 12-25, but rallied back in true chief intensity winning the next two sets 25-12 and 25-15. This placed the Chiefs in the Gold Bracket seeded 5th. In bracket play the Chiefs fought hard against a Belleville team dropping both sets 20-25, and 21-25. Awesome hitting was displayed by Kelsey Trombly, Leena Shrum, Michaela DiMambro, and Victoria Kirk. Macy Freeman and Maya Vargo were all about setting up and making plays. Defense Specialists Megan Scott, Aleighna Johnson and Stephanie Ilasca left skin on the floor as dove for every ball. The freshman team finishes their season on Monday. Great job ladies.
