CRESTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL: 0
Tuesday May 18th was the big highly anticipated rematch with Crestwood High School. All of the tickets had been sold out weeks in advance and fans were coming in from all over the Tri New Boston Area. Breeann Roupe started the scoring from a Maddie Barbour pass that would start the massive crowds cheering and roaring for the entire 70 minutes. Kayla Sexton once again dazzled the crowds with her speed and calmness playing the center back position. Hannah Purcell and Hannah Sample both played the outside spots and outworked their forwards the entire time allowing the Chiefs to stay mostly on the attack. Just minutes after the massive crowd started to chant the Huron Fight Song, Maddie Barbour scored a solo goal that inspired Mira Lazenby and Danica Lividini to put on some dazzling footwork of their own, both having near misses on the frame. Maddie Singer had back to back assists after creating opportunities up front. First she found fellow forward Maggie Warden and two minutes later she found Gia Dean who calmly tucked the ball into the upper netting. As the massive crowds were being calmed by onsite security personal, Sophomore Amelia Campbell decided to posses the ball and show off some of her ball handling skills. Melissa Mentzer went solo carving through the defense to finish the scoring off 5-0. When the closing seconds counted off of the giant scoreboard the 2021 JV Soccer season came to a close triggering large amounts of confetti and fireworks to be shot upward into the air high above the grandstands. Sure all of the electric excitement was appreciated but the firework that spelled out “Huron League Champs” across the sky, may have been a bit of overkill.
