Strong defense and a fast start to the first quarter, carried the JV Lady Chiefs to a 39-29 win over Milan. We jumped out to a 19-2 lead after the first quarter thanks to a pressuring defense and the ability to finish at the rim. We pressed to start the game and Milan was unable to handle it. We caused some turnovers and were able to capitalize. While the second quarter wasn't as high scoring for us, our defense was still up to par and we led 24-10 at the half. Milan came out at halftime and had their best quarter of the game and closed the gap to 29-25. Once the fourth quarter started our defense picked back up and we were able to force some more turnovers. We out scored Milan in the fourth 8 to 4 and were able to hold on for the 10 point victory. Gabby Ison led all Chiefs in scoring with 9 points. Victoria Kirk had a big first half and finished with 8 points. 3 Chiefs finished with 6 points, Maya Vargo, who hit big free throws in the 4th, Tiffany Burns went 2 for 3 from the foul line, and Becca Mitchell had big steals and rebounds to go along with her 6 points.
