Jun 4, 2022

The Huron girls state qualifiers had the perfect day to showcase how hard they've worked all season. The weather was perfect and the running conditions couldn't have been any better. MHSAA Track and Field State Finals

Senior and first year thrower, Kelsey Trombly threw 34'9.5 in Shot Put earning 12th in the state.

Madelyn Barbour broke her own school record and earned herself an all-state title and 8th place medal in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.52.

Standout Elizabeth Anderson came out strong in her preliminary races, leaving no doubt she would be a contender in the finals.  She flew out of the blocks in the 100m dash breaking her own school record with a time of 12.23 and earning herself the all-state title of runner up and a second place medal. Elizabeth commanded the 400m dash and won herself the title of STATE CHAMPION breaking her own school record with a time of 56.26.  For her third and final race of the meet, she told her coaches she was just going to give whatever she had left. Liz ran the 200m dash beautifully and earned her second STATE CHAMPIONSHIP of the day.  She tied her current school record with a time of 25.07. Elizabeth was also named MVP of the meet by athletic.net.

Madelyn and Elizabeth earned a total of 29 team points, which catapulted the Huron girls track team to 4th in the state. The future of this team is very bright. With Maddie and Liz both returning next season, the girls might have a shot at bringing home the mitten in 2023.
