MILAN HIGH SCHOOL: 75
The Huron Chiefs girls track team put up a fight against Milan in the first dual meet of the season. Scoring 53 points against the tough Milan girls, the meet came down to the last few events. Huron girls dominated the sprinting events while Milan was stronger in distance. In the end, Milan won 53-75.
Despite the first loss, the girls track team left feeling elated and excited about what is sure to be an amazing season.
Elizabeth Anderson proved once again what a powerhouse she is and not only earned first place in all of her events, but also broke 3 school records. With a FAT converted time of 12.24, she broke the longstanding 100m dash record previously held by Sally Giada since 1978 (12.3 hand timed). Liz ran the 400m in 58.64 (FAT converted) breaking the current record 58.98 she set in 2021 at state finals. With her final event of the evening, Elizabeth ran the 200m in a FAT converted time of 25.64 breaking the record she set in 2021 (25.92).
Standout performances of the evening include senior Kelsey Trombly earning 2nd place in shot (29'10.5), 2nd place in disc (79'9) and 3rd place in the 100m dash 13.96h. This is Kelsey's first season in track.
Madelyn Barbour (senior) is going to be key in scoring this season, earning first place in the 300h (55.5) and running in the 1st place 4x200m Relay (1:54).
Freshman hurdler Addison Townsend earned second place in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles. She also ran a leg in the winning 4x100m relay (56.78).
