It's always great to be a Chief, but Saturday at the 3rd annual Metro Classic it was a REALLY Great Day to be a CHIEF! Medals earned, records broken, and top finishes.  It doesn't get any better than that for the Lady Chiefs of Huron. 

Samantha Keller came into the meet undefeated in the 100m hurdles as a sophomore.  She brought home a 2nd place finish with a 16.49 and broke the school record held by Chrissy Morris since 1996. 

Senior, Ellie Fichtner, has already broken the school record in Long Jump this year and she secured herself another spot on the record board at the Metro Classic. Running a 26.8 in the 200m prelims she broke the record previously held by Lindsay Wendel (Carlman) since 1990. Ellie finished 4th place overall in the 200m Dash and 2nd in Long Jump with a distance of 16'9. She also ran the last leg of the 5th place 4x200m Relay (1:52.82) 

The lady Chiefs track team stacked up well against the tougher D1 schools and earned themselves a 7th place (out of 19) overall finish. 

Points scored and notable performances: 

Kyndy Bennet made it to finals and had her season PR in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 18.55.

Abigail Russell made it to finals in the 100m Dash and the finals with a time of 13.72. She also ran a leg in the 5th place finishing 4x200m Relay (1:52.82) and ran a leg in the 7th place finishing 4x100m Relay (55.24/PR). 

Abbey Biundo finished 9th place in the open 400m Dash running her PR of 65.94 and ran a leg in the 5th place finishing 4x200m Relay. 

Lucy George ran her PR in the open 800 with a time of 2:46.79. 

Caitlin Roupe ran her PR in the open 200m Dash and also made it to finals with a time of 28.72. She also ran the  starting leg in the 5th palce 4x200 and started the 7th place finishing 4x100m Relay. 

Kailah Mahon finished 4th overall in Discus throwing 92'6 and finished 5th overall in Shot Put with her PR of 29'5. 

Sami Spencer ran the last leg in the 4x100m Relay. Earning them a 7th place finish and setting their PR at 55.24.
