AIRPORT HIGH SCHOOL: 71
The Lady Chiefs lost the fight against the Airport Jets in their first meet of the season on 4/12. The Huron girls had a stellar first outing and gave the Jets a battle. After two DQed relays that would have put Huron in the lead, Aiport pulled off the win.
Stand out performances were had by all, however Ellie Fichtner was the athlete of the meet. Wining first place in three open events and scoring the team 15 points on her own, she also accomplished something that hasn't been done since the 1970s.
Ellie broke the New Boston Huron high school long jump record (previously 17 feet 4 inches) with her personal best jump of 17 feet 5 inches!!!
Samantha Keller was another standout of the meet winning first place in high jump, 110 hurdles, and 300 hurdles. She also earned her team 15 points.
