Despite seeing their 5-run lead whittled down by the end, Riverview Varsity Bucs still held off  for a 6-4 victory on Wednesday. Huron Varsity Chiefs closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, and a single.

A home run to left field by Ella Vinco put Riverview Varsity Bucs on the board in the bottom of the first.

Riverview Varsity Bucs added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Brooklyn Klein singled, scoring one run, and Olivia Salinas doubled, scoring two runs.

Salinas earned the win for Riverview Varsity Bucs. The righty surrendered nine hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one. Rylie Greggo stepped in the circle first for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The right-handed pitcher gave up 10 hits and six runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking three.

Greggo drove the middle of the lineup, leading Huron Varsity Chiefs with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Greggo, Maria Robbins, and Madison Kuzara each collected two hits for Huron Varsity Chiefs. Huron Varsity Chiefs turned one double play in the game.

Lady Chiefs battled back hard, despite being down 5-0 and got with in one run. A double down the line scored two on bases loaded, but Ramsby was gunned down at the plate late, that would have tied it up at 5. It was nice seeing the kids make some adjustments and really start to put things together. Im very proud of them, they are making strides slowly and that is the ultimate goal.
