Greggo Career Day Leads the Charge Past Grosse Ill

GROSSE ILE HIGH SCHOOL: 3
Huron Varsity Chiefs opened up scoring in the second inning when Sierra Diegel singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, Grosse Ile tied things up at three when Josie singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Huron Varsity Chiefs took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Diegel doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Savannah Karver singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, and Madison Miles grounded out, scoring one run.
Rylie Greggo led things off in the pitcher's circle for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The righty surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one.
Josie was in the pitcher's circle for Grosse Ile. Josie went three and a third innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out two. Katie threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Huron Varsity Chiefs scattered 12 hits in the game. Emma Sic, Karver, Diegel, and Brielle Musallam all managed multiple hits for Huron Varsity Chiefs. Sic went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs in hits. Sic led Huron Varsity Chiefs with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.

"The game started off a little slow. Grosse Ile got an early lead on us and I wasn't sure how we would respond. Thankfully the team bounced back pretty quickly, taking the lead with 3 runs in the second. Grosse Ile tied it up in the third but our fourth inning rally was too much for them to chip away at. I think Greggo got better as the game progressed. Simplified things well and her and Sic worked well together as a duo. Greggo is turning a corner, her transformation between the past couple weeks is taking shape and I think she is progressing nicely. She had a career high 13 strikeouts on the day. A lot of big plays were made behind her as well. It is turning into the perfect recipe for really, the balance between defense and pitching. Bri Scott made a huge diving catch that nipped a possible rally. Musallam,Sic, Diegel, and Karver all had multiple hit games. Schwartz led the RBI category with 3 RBI day. Team effort....and today I think the team became a little bit more of a team."
