Huron Varsity Chiefs won big over Airport 9-2 on Monday.

In the second inning, Huron Varsity Chiefs got their offense started.  Sierra Diegel drove in one when Diegel doubled.

Rylie Greggo toed the rubber for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The righthander allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Huron Varsity Chiefs scattered 15 hits in the game.  Savannah Karver, Diegel, Marissa Jackson, Greggo, and Madison Miles each racked up multiple hits for Huron Varsity Chiefs.  Jackson, Diegel, and Karver each managed three hits to lead Huron Varsity Chiefs.

“Kids came out today better than I expected. Always hard coming off a long weekend and jumping into the swing of things. But they came out swinging hard. I was really impressed with some of our kids, especially those who have been in a little “slump”. We got some big timely hits from the bottom part of line up, they carried us today. Jackson (3-5) kept pressure all day with 3 hits on the day. Greggo (2-3) and Diegel (3 -4) did their part in the middle, both having multiple hit days, and Miles(2-3) and Karver (3-4) really really stepped up today. Each with multiple hits as well. Karver punched in 4 RBI on the day. Definitely her best game of the year. Defensively we had some really big plays as well. Newman put a couple things together today and had equal play from Miles up the middle. Our outfield hung tough all game. Musallam got some innings at third and made two big outs in the bottom of the 7th. Greggo and Sic worked the zone well pitching/catching. Today was a a big “first step” for the team. “
