Huron Varsity Chiefs watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-3 loss to Canton on Tuesday. Canton scored on a single by Grau and a sacrifice fly by Frank in the first inning.
Canton got things started in the first inning. Canton scored one run when Grau singled.
Doornbus got the start for Canton. The pitcher went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and walking zero.
Brielle Musallam toed the rubber for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The righthander went four innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out one. Erin Newman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Newman led Huron Varsity Chiefs with two hits in three at bats.
