Very proud of our kids today. This week has been an absolute grind. Five games over the weekend, followed by a league Double Header, and then having to travel again for another big league game; the kids are beat, but they are playing for each other right now. We are in this phase of do what we have to. Scrap it out. Some kids are out of position so others can rest. Some kids are playing minimal innings but doing so with pride. Its really a 1-16 team effort and they are enjoying the hype that is coming with it. Today was a must win game again. We know we can't afford to drop a game and they came out and put 7 up in the first inning of play. I couldn't be more proud of the unity they are showing. Newman stepped up again to take some innings off Brinkerhoff and pitched another solid game. Some big plays were made behind her. Another good day for the Chiefs

• Big First Inning Propels Huron Chiefs Varsity Win Over Jefferson
• A seven-run first inning led Huron Chiefs Varsity to a 12-2 victory on Wednesday.  Huron Chiefs Varsity's big bats in the inning were led by singles by Marissa Jackson, Madison Miles, and Alexis Thomas, an error on a ball put in play by Katie Kosykowski, and a double by Gracie Brinkerhoff.
• Huron Chiefs Varsity got things started in the first inning. An error scored two runs for Huron Chiefs Varsity.
• Erin Newman was the winning pitcher for Huron Chiefs Varsity. The righty lasted six innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out eight and walking one.
• Dyson took the loss for Jefferson. Dyson surrendered 12 runs on 12 hits over six innings, striking out four.
• Huron Chiefs Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game.  Brinkerhoff, Jackson, and Newman each had multiple hits for Huron Chiefs Varsity.  Newman, Jackson, and Brinkerhoff each collected two hits to lead Huron Chiefs Varsity.
• Grassley went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Jefferson in hits.
