Great first win of the season as Huron opened up against SMCC. We took the lead early in the first inning but gave it back later in the third. Took it back again to go back up by two, and CC hit a two run shot to tie it once more. Dioszegi hit a solo shot in the fifth that fueled a 6 run rally! It was nice to see both the younger kids and the older one contribute nicely today. Defensively had some kinks, but we set the tone in the box and gave us a little cushion to play looser. Brinkerhoff adding 13K's was a huge start to the season!

Huron Chiefs Varsity Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Saint Mary Catholic Central.  Huron Chiefs Varsity stole the lead late and defeated saint mary catholic central 12-4 on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with Huron Chiefs Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when Lauren Dioszegi hit a solo homer. Huron Chiefs Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Caroline Polites singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Huron Chiefs Varsity notched six runs in the sixth inning.  Huron Chiefs Varsity batters contributing to the big inning included Marissa Jackson, Dioszegi, Sierra Diegel, Autumn Setser, and Gracie Brinkerhoff, who each had RBIs in the inning. Brinkerhoff led the Huron Chiefs Varsity to victory in the circle. The righty surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one.
