Grosse Ile and Huron squared off for the NBU season opener.  GI took advantage of 4 power play goals in earning their first victory with a resounding 6-1 win.  Getting a quick PP goal and then 2 more even-strength goals in the first period set the tone for the game.  

Getting outshot 45-17, the NBU worked hard but with some sloppy play and an inability to move the puck in the first period.  

In the second period the NBU squad came out more aggressively and played a more evenly matched team.  GI had 9 shots while NBU had 8 and both teams exchanged goals in the period.  Scoring for New Boston United was Lucas Falk on a power play goal with assists to Zuka Czarnik and Harry Dembowski. The score at the end of two periods was 4-1.

In the final period, GI had 18 shots while NBU had only 6.  Noah Kilmark played well in net after coming off a long off-season and knee surgery.
