NORTHVILLE HIGH SCHOOL: 1
With a glorious effort, the season came to an end for the 4 school squad-the NBU team. With Airport and Flat Rock joining the existing Huron and Belleville team, all 4 Huron League schools came together this season.
The playoff opponent was Northville-a #11 state ranked team. The Co-op team of HBU hung tough through the first period and had some golden opportunities to score. In the end, both team skated away with no goals after the first.
A quick goal by Northville in the 2nd would prove to be the only goal and the game-winner for the Mustangs. The HBU squad played a physical and worked tirelessly in all three zones and should be proud of a great effort in the game. Playing an outstanding game in net was Collin Page saving 32 of 33 shots his way. The defense did a great job with Sophomores Brett Putnam, Cory Druihet, Junior Cole McNulty and Seniors Chris Begeman and Zach Hurd.
The forwards did a great job on the forecheck and backcheck to help the D and expecially Seniors Clay Hightower, TJ Potcova, Darren Barber, Zack Sawdy and Juniors Evan Estes and Josh Pawelczyk.
Disappointed with the outcome but certainly not the effort against a quality opponent. The team had worked hard throughout the season and it was on display Monday night.
