FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL: 4
In a game vs Livonia Franklin, the boys from NBU came out flying and scored in every period to skate to a 7-4 victory. The first period saw a NBU lead grow to 2-0 on goals from Darren Barber and Evan Estes. Assists to Clay Hightower and Zach Hurd on the first goal and TJ Potcova and Barber on the second goal.
In the second period, Franklin and Huron United traded goals and held a 3-1 lead after Franklin scored on a short-handed goal and a Power Play tally by Hightower with assists to Barber and Potcova. A BIG play in the second was a short-handed goal by Hightower on a 5 on 3 Power Play for Franklin!
With a commanding 4-1 lead, the play got sloppy and Franklin climbed back into the game with 2 quick goals to make it 4-3, the NBU holding onto a 1-goal lead. Getting another goal in the period was TJ Potocova who lifted a shot top-bar on a PP.
In the third period, Franklin scored first to make it 5-4. NBU capitalized on yet another Power Play with a nice goal by Jacob Piccolo with a nice helper from Logan Bloomer. Closing out the scoring in the victory was Clay Hightower with his third goal, a hat trick, with assists to Barber and Potcova.
Despite the two short-handed goals and another fluke bounce for a Patriot goal, the defense played well and were physical and aggressive on the puck. In net, Cade Armstrong played well and made some outstanding saves throughout the game.
