Two Huron Chiefs Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against Grosse Ile

The Huron Chiefs defeated Grosse Ile 1-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. 

The pitching was strong on both sides. Huron pitchers struck out 14, while Grosse Ile pitchers sat down 11.  Gavin Moczydlowsky and Micah Smith combined to throw a masterpiece for Huron and had hitters off balance all afternoon.

Micah Smith earned the victory on the mound for the Chiefs. Smith went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Gavin Moczydlowsky started the game for Huron. The righthander went six innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out 10.  Gavin was in complete control of the game and was backed by very good defense behind him.

Cole Grunwald, Micah Smith, Matt Williams, and Gavin Moczydlowsky each collected one hit to lead the Chiefs. Micah Smith’s single came with 1 out in the 8^th inning.  Following Micah’s single, Isaac Smith and Matt Williams each drew walks to load the bases.  Cole Grunwald drew the game winning walk for the Chiefs walk off win in the bottom of the 8^th inning.
