Huron Chiefs Defeat St. Mary’s Catholic 2-0 With Dominate Pitching
The Huron Chiefs defeated St. Mary Catholic Central 2-0 on Thursday for the 2nd time this year. Huron looked very good on the mound as Micah Smith and Cole Grunwald combined for the shutout.
The Chiefs fired up the offense in the first inning when Rory Callahan doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring the first run.
Micah Smith was the starting pitcher and lead them to victory. Micah lasted five and a third innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out nine. Cole Grunwald threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Grunwald recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Huron.
The Chiefs scattered seven hits in the game. Connor Grant and Matt Williams each collected 2 hits for Huron. The Chiefs also stole five bases during the game and Matt Williams lead the team with 3 stolen bases in the contest.
