Huron Chiefs Varsity Out-Hits Competition, Yet North Farmington Takes The Win
Even though Huron Chiefs Varsity collected nine hits to North Farmington's eight, they still fell 6-5 on Saturday
North Farmington opened up scoring in the second inning. Cameron Jones singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the third inning, Huron Chiefs Varsity tied things up at one when Isaac Yates's sac fly scored one run for Huron Chiefs Varsity.
North Farmington pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Jones singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Clay Emeigh doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, and Brandon Decker doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Emeigh took the win for North Farmington. He allowed eight hits and four runs over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Jones threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Cole Grunwald took the loss for Huron Chiefs Varsity. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out one.
Huron Chiefs Varsity tallied nine hits on the day. Zach Taylor, Scott Hinojosa, and Chase Molnar all had multiple hits for Huron Chiefs Varsity. Molnar, Hinojosa, and Taylor each collected two hits to lead Huron Chiefs Varsity. Huron Chiefs Varsity was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Taylor made the most plays with six.
North Farmington saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Jordan Poholak and Jones all collected multiple hits for North Farmington.
