Airport Captures Lead Early to Defeat Huron Chiefs Varsity
Huron Chiefs Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-1 loss to Airport on Wednesday. Airport scored on a single by #12 in the first inning, a error in the first inning, a wild pitch by #2 in the first inning, and a double by #9 in the second inning.
Airport got on the board in the first inning when #12 singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
#15 led the Airport to victory on the pitcher's mound. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out 13 and walking zero. #8 threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. #8 recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Airport.
Zach Taylor took the loss for Huron Chiefs Varsity. He surrendered five runs on three hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.
Issac Yates went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Huron Chiefs Varsity in hits.
Airport racked up eight hits in the game. #9 and #12 all collected multiple hits for Airport. Airport was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. #14 had the most chances in the field with 15.
