GROSSE ILE HIGH SCHOOL: 1
The Huron Chiefs tied Grosse Ile 1-1 in a Huron League showdown. The Chiefs were inches away from scoring first as Ava Genzel shot a rebound off the post. Two minutes later, Grosse Ile netted the first goal of the match. The teams battled back and forth, but the Chiefs found the equalizer with 10 minutes in the first half. Melanie Skamiera crossed a ball to a streaking Ashley Christesen whom fired a full volley into the back of the net. The two teams battled evenly for the next 50 minutes for a 1-1 draw. Amelia Strochine made a hanful of saves in the match. Bella Elliott, Aniella Ormanian, Layla Hamilton, Olivia Manoa, and Joanna Mentzer played strong defensively. The Chiefs are now 8-2-1 for the season and 4-1-1 in the Huron League.
