For the 6th year in a row the Huron Lady Chiefs Varsity Golf Team had a team or individual qualify for the MHSAA State Finals. This year Junior Andie Martin became the 16th Lady Chiefs player to compete in this tournament. Andie qualified for the Division 2 State Finals as an individual. This year's tournament was played at MSU's Forest Akers East Golf course on October 18 & 19 and was played under wonderful conditions on both days of the tournament.
Playing on the big stage may have cause some nerves in the first round as Andie saw some trouble early. Her play on the greens was very good as she had only two 3 putts all day. Andie played better on the back 9 to post a score of 97 for the first day. The second round saw Andie bounce back nicely. She got off to a good start and was able to recover from a few stray shots. She continued her very good play on the greens. Again she had only two 3 putts all day and was able to find a birdie on #15, a par 5. Andie's second round was a very good score of 83. Andie shot a two day total of 180 and that was good enough for a tie for 29th place.
Andie closed out her season with a very nice showing at the MHSAA State Finals and a very good T29th place finish out of a field of 107 players. Congratulations on a great season!!!!
