The Lady Chiefs Varsity Golf team traveled to the Monroe Country Club on Monday to begin their defense of their 2018 Huron League Championship.  The Huron League Jamboree is an 18 hole tournament against every team in the league.  This counts as a Huron League win or loss against each team. 

The Lady Chiefs have had a slow start this season with several new players in the line up and other players taking on bigger roles.  The Chiefs played their best golf of the young season and finished in 2nd place at the tournament finishing behind only the Airport Jets.  Airport posted a team score of 381 and the Lady Chiefs posted a 398.  The Jets, Kristen Reed earned medalist honors shooting an 81.  

Once again the Chiefs were lead by Junior Andie Martin who shot a very nice score of 89 on a very difficult course..  Andie finished in 3rd Place overall in the tournament.  Junior Anna Puschmann carded a personal best score of 93 and finished in 5th place overall.  Senior Sophia Straub played well and shot a 106 and Senior Jill Chapp had the last team score with a 110.  Senior Asia Riley saw her first 18 hole tournament and her first Huron League action today.  She shot a very nice 58 on the front 9 for the Lady Chiefs.

This gives the Chiefs a nice start on the league schedule with a 6 wins and 1 loss.  The Chiefs will play each of the  Huron League teams 2 more times this season.  The Lady Chiefs will have time to continue to improve as their next match will be after Labor Day, on September 4.  They will play host to the Milan Big Reds and Flat Rock Rams in a tri-match  at Willow Golf Course beginning at 3pm.
