The Huron Cross Country teams kicked off their season under the lights at the Lamplighter Invitational on Friday, August 23rd, setting a promising tone for the year ahead.
In a race dominated by Division 1 competition, Huron emerged as the top Division 2 school, finishing 9th overall. Leading the charge was Lucas Kuhn, who set a new school record with a time of 16:03.6, breaking the previous record from 2016 by 9 seconds and securing 6th place overall. Lucas Duecki also earned a top-20 medal, finishing 19th (16:41.2). Notable performances included Kyle Biller, who placed 54th with a personal record of 17:45.7, and Cameron Crane, who finished 58th with a PR of 17:53.2—both going sub-18 for the first time. Other key contributors were Tanner Kuhn, who dropped over a minute and a half to place 91st with a PR of 18:31.9, followed by Louie Macon 127th (19:29.2), Lucas Worrell 143rd (20:23.6), Broderick Yensch 147th (20:40.4), Ben Holbrook 148th (20:41.1 PR), and Evan Banas 154th (21:10.0).

In the JV race, the Huron Boys Team placed 8th overall. Cole Druyor led the team finishing in 30th (20:45.9) out of 187 runners, closely followed by Aiden Hebert-Foe in 32nd (20:48.7), with Austin Krause in 51st (21:38.2PR), Brenton Musallam 61st (22:02.7), Max Banas 67th (22:20.9), Mason Kidd 77th (22:47.6 PR), Ethan Brophy 89th (23:09.5 PR), Liam Holdwick 96th (23:19.0 PR), Deegan Richardson 114th (23:39.8), Oliver Scherz 123rd (24:09.9 PR), Ethan Sainto 124th (24:32.0), Austin Shastal 129th (24:40.0), Wyatt Sesnie 130th (24:40.2), Johnny Lapointe 138th (25:01.9), Garrett Patrick 150th (25:53.0), Joel Lazenby 168th (27:24.9), Ian Carlile 169th (27:29.8), Jacob Bently 173rd (28:16.3), Graham Gamber 176th (28:36.7), Jack Fisher 181st (29:31.0).
