It was a must have win for the Lady Chiefs this evening. Not only did we feel like we had the upper hand but physically we are just all around bigger and a bit quicker. The game started off with a 14-0 lead in the first. Courtney Balasz and Lexi Thomas both lead the way with 5 points in the first. Each with a inside bucket and a three. Callahan added two from the stripe and Atherton had an early basekt. Our defense was pretty firm this quarter. Jefferson did get some quality shots off early, but nothing fell for them. I think we did a good job at limiting second chance points by grabbing some big boards as well. 

The second quarter we didn't do much scoring. We scrapped together 5 points off a bucket by Callahan and Thomas and one free throw from Emily Egler. We forced some poor shots that we did not need to take and we missed some easy layups. Thankfully we held Jefferson to only 7 points on the quarter or the game would have been much closer at half.

Third quarter we did more inside scoring. Something we looked to focus on at halftime. We had huge height advantage over Jefferson inside with Callahan but didn't look inside much early. We were content with outside shots and it hindered our offense. We came out pushing more inside and Callahan connected on three easy baskets in the paint. Thomas was able to score 4 in the quarter as well. Unfortunately Vanisacker, for Jefferson, got away from us a bit and was able to launch a couple 3's. Being one of the purest shooters in the league, she is bound to connect, and she did. But they only outscored us this quarter by a basket. Third quarter ended with a score of 29-19 Huron lead. 

THe fourth quarter defintely went in our favor. A ten point lead isn't always the most comfortable but Jefferson does not have as many scoring threats as other teams, so the goal was to not let one girl beat us, and Lexi Thomas and Courntey Balasz played exceptional defense on Vanisacker this quarter. She didn't score a basket and most of her shots were forced from deep behind the three point line. They shut her down and we kept Jefferson to only 5 points. Izzy Pritt offensively I think controlled and set the tempo as well this quarter. This was by far her best game to date. Only scoring 3 points on the day, she was able to add to the ball handling depth which allowed Thomas to get open a lot more. I was very impressed with how she stepped up and how well she handled the tempo late. Callahan added two more baskets, Balasz a bucket, and Thomas hit one from the line, to solidify and bring home the win.
