Coming out of the gate for game one, nerves were all over. I could see it early the rust that needed shook off. We started the game off with a 9 point lead. A couple miscues from our opponents we capitalized off of right of the get go. Taylor made a bit of a comeback though and crept in. We managed to turn the ball over 11 times in the first half, so we felt it was more on us than them coming into the second. Taylor scores 6 in the first minute of the second half cutting the lead to one. But after we settled down I think we found our bearings. Lexi Thomas lead the way, coming up with some key steals (she had 6 on the night) and converted those into quick baskets. She ended up with 22 points on the night. Sam Belair added 9 points. Faith Callahan had 6. Courtney Balsaz set a tempo defensively as well- she stepped up late when we needed her. It was a good team effort and for game one, I think the kids did some things really well.
