JEFFERSON MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL: 35

Huron Lady Chiefs come up with another nice win. It was a great team effort as 11 of 13 scored on the day. Ava Dimlia lead the way with 15. She stepped up in some big moments. She is learning to score from the interior, which is new to her, but she is facing the challenge head on, and really excelling at it. Her post presence cretes some schematic challenges for opponents defense, which frees up other kids on the court.  Lexi Thomas again set the tone defensively. She produced 5 steals on the night which transitioned into some early baskets. She had multiple key assists and broke down their zone defense very nicely. Marissa Smith, Sam Belair, and Faith Callahan all had 7 on the night. Each presented a different offensive presence. I though Belair drove nicely and created space. She finished well and is learning parts of the game that are key. Smith always delivers key shots at the high post. She finishes with finesse has a great touch. She has found her niche there. And Callahan, I am so impressed with. I think shes transforming into a real post player. Defensively and offensively, she is finding a way to add quality minutes with both scoring and rebounding. Izzy Pritt, Anna Antherton, and Courtney Balsz added 4 points each. Izzy Pritt is becoming a second point guard that the team is heavily relying on. Her court awareness is second to none. She is exceptional at breaking down defenses and distributing the ball. She is such a pure point guard. Balsz is stepping up as well. Her aggressiveness was unmatched. She brings a spark and we feed off it. Antherton also added 2 key baskets but I was most impressed with her ability to pass the ball from the high post. She plays more like a forward with strength and her ability to involve others is a huge asset. Emily Egler and Caroline Polites also added a basket each. It is nice to see kids utilize the minutes they get. Polites is more of a defensive presence but when she adds points into the mix the team feeds off that. She did a great job on the evening being aggressive and coming up with some turnovers off the trap. I thought she helped shut down their PG which took the ball out of the best players hands. Egler stepped up as well. I was impressed with her court vision and her efforts on the floor. She was able to dribble penetrate and swing the ball creating gaps, which turned into some big  baskets. The team excelled at working together this evening. Very proud of them.
