AIRPORT HIGH SCHOOL: 64
The Huron Chiefs traveled to Airport on Friday night and bolted to a 14-2 1st quarter lead forcing the Jets to take a timeout. I told my kids to expect Airport to either pick up their intensity, switch defenses, or press. The Jets picked up their defensive pressure and scored the last 10 points of the quarter to trail only 14-12. From that time out to the end of the 3rd quarter, Airport outscored Huron 44-8. It was as though their switch was turned on and ours was turned off. The Jets had balanced scoring; Brandon McComas led Airport with 15 points, while Colin Nowak and Joel Westaway scored 12 points a piece. Huron was led by Cole Grunwald and Rory Callahan with 8 points each. Airport hit 8 3's while Huron shot 1 for 14-it was a bad night shooting and turnovers as the Chiefs lost their 8th game in a row and fell to 1-9.
