Huron High School
Announcements and Important Events
Welcome to the 2022-23 Renton Wrestling season. Your coaches are looking forward to working with our returning wrestlers and excited to meet those that are new to the program. We do not have cuts or try-outs for wrestling. As long as your student is academically eligible, they will be on the team. We encourage all students to join wrestling no matter their experience in the sport.
We want to give you some important information as to how we will be communicating with you and where you can find helpful information throughout the season. This season we will be using the “Stack Team App”. Download the app from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Search Huron Middle School Wrestling and request to join by adding your wrestlers name into the message box. Also, the Huron athletics website www.Huronhighchiefs.org is a site that will be utilized and contains up to date information regarding schedules, locations, results, etc. You will need to search for jr. high wrestling under winter sports programs at which time you’ll be able to click to follow the team.
Our practice schedule for this season will begin on January 9th at 6pm in the high school wrestling room. Practices will be held on all school days from 6pm to 8pm (Usually M,W,F), unless we have a scheduled “Meet”. Please be waiting outside in your vehicles by 8pm, as we will make sure that your wrestler is out on time. Our meets are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4pm. If school is canceled for any reason, practice will also be canceled.
Please make sure your wrestler has a sports physical on file with the school prior to the 1st practice. Wrestlers will not be able to participate without a physical. Wrestlers should also have a pair of wrestling shoes and a mouth guard if they have dental braces. Any row of teeth with braces will need a guard in order to compete. A water bottle and a container of disinfectant wipes are recommended and appreciated, as your wrestler will need to clean their shoes before stepping onto the practice mat each day. Uniforms and headgear are provided by the school, though your wrestler may choose to wear their own headgear. Transportation is provided for our weekday “Meets” and wrestlers are required to ride the bus back to Renton after the “Meet” unless 24hr notice has been provided to the athletic dept. Transportation is not provided for any Saturday tournaments. If a wrestler needs a Saturday ride, we appreciate any help parents can provide to other wrestlers. The 1st tournament kicks off our 1st week, Jan 14th at Jefferson H.S. More information will be provided.
