The defensive display could not be outdone today as our kids made play after play to keep the Big Reds off the board. Rylie threw an absolute gem. Hard to hit all game. We relied heavily on some big plays to get out of some jams and they surely did their job. With runners on second and first, in the top of the 7th and one out, a shot to right field was snagged at the shoe strings and we doubled up the runner on first to end the game. This team keeps taking the right steps forward. Playing clean and making some great adjustments at the plate. Sometimes all you need is a couple key hits when your defense and pitching are firing in the way they were today. 

Huron Varsity Chiefs Defeats Milan Varsity BIG REDS In Pitcher's Duel

Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but Huron Varsity Chiefs defeated Milan Varsity BIG REDS 2-0. Rylie Greggo started the game for Huron Varsity Chiefs and recorded 21 outs.

Huron Varsity Chiefs got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Russo singles, Shore moved her on a bunt, and  Madison Kuzara doubled down the left field line with a 2 strike count.  

Greggo opened the game for Huron Varsity Chiefs. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kendyll Fell began the game for Milan Varsity BIG REDS. The starter gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking none.

Kuzara led Huron Varsity Chiefs with one run batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Addison Ramsby, Kuzara, and Ava Russo each collected one hit for Huron Varsity Chiefs. Huron Varsity Chiefs turned one double play in the game.

Leila Daniels, Alexis Vance, Charleigh Meggison, Georgia Linzell, Reese Knox, and Virginia "Ginny" Heikka each collected one hit for Milan Varsity BIG REDS.

Huron Varsity Chiefs welcome Flat Rock Varsity Rams on Tuesday for their next game.
