Huron Chiefs Varsity Falls To Riverview In Low-Scoring Affair

• Both teams were strong on the rubber on Monday, but Riverview was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Huron Chiefs Varsity on Monday. Gracie Brinkerhoff started the game for Huron Chiefs Varsity and recorded 18 outs.
• One bright spot for Huron Chiefs Varsity was a single by Erin Bressler in the fourth inning.
• S Kerr took the win for Riverview. She lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking one.
• Brinkerhoff took the loss for Huron Chiefs Varsity. She lasted six innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out 12 and walking one.
• Bressler and Chelsea Hamilton each managed one hit to lead Huron Chiefs Varsity. Huron Chiefs Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Bressler had the most chances in the field with 12.
• S Mcalinden led Riverview with two hits in three at bats. Riverview was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. K Kahl made the most plays with nine.
• Bottom of the 7th, a lead off bunt, was later scored on an RBI walk off hit from Riverview. 

It was a defensive game all day. Both teams gave their best efforts to keep runners off the base paths. Gracie Brinkerhoff had a career day. 12 Strikeouts and 3 put outs, making 15 of the 19 outs on the day. She was on point. She moved the ball, stayed in the zone, worked ahead, and just made it extremely difficult for anyone to get comfortable in the box. It was fun watching that performance. The only hits to be had were Chelsea Hamilton with a bunt for a hit and Erin Bressler who found the grass for a base hit. We just struggled today. We were missing 3 of our best hitters, and our power factor just was not there. We are scrappy but they out scrapped us. It was a great game, however, I thought kids did their best and battled. Riverview just had two better hits than we did. Tough loss.
